Ouch. Pushed sideways, I take it?

Even so, wouldn't expect the suspension to give way like that. Unless he has some serious high performance rubber on that wheel tongue out

Looks like a van/lorry may have clipped it whilst turning.

Side swiping does that? Ouch.

Indeed. Push the bumper in, then "catch" the tyre and pull the wheel out. I'm surprised there's not sheet metal damage visible, though.

Many modern rear suspension set ups are very fragile if hit in the wrong place .I recovered a modern merc coupe that had reversed into a high kerb at the wrong angle and bent a lot of components.

Rather appropriate that it's parked outside "New Look".

What are the chances his insurance will refuse a payout becasue of where he was parked.

Zero. One of my trucks clipped a parked car (similar to this incident I guess) that was on yellows and the insurance just laughed at me when I said the car was parked on yellows. Their actual reply was "even though you are saying its non fault we cant put non fault because your vehicle hit a stationary car"

I wonder if he was with the Ford across the road. (Both are Forest & Fen plates, and are obviously on international duties)

Looks like it may have been pushed forwards a couple of feet going on the marks on the tarmac behind the wheel.

It's irrelevant.
