Well back in the real world I was in a business car park earlier when a guy walked up and started to ask me about the Golf. He was really impressed and was getting one next - seemed to be totally normal to me too.

Who would have thought that?

It was probably me hehe I've asked several owners randomly how they are getting on with theirs and all positive.

I don't seem normal though.

Lame jokes (on my part) aside, I love mine.
Me too. I saw a very attractive lady driving a nice purply one with the 19" wheels on my commute home from Manchester this evening. She offered to suck me off when we caught eyes at the lights, but I said no as I was too ashamed of the fact that we weren't driving the best car in the world. She understood.

I've got a bit of a problem with mine.

I can afford to spend £300 pounds a month on a car.

I got my R on a lease for £250ppm.

It's not getting 40mpg like I was told it was, so I am spending more than £50 per month on fuel and am facing financial ruin and may have to go on the game.

Can anyone lend me some pounds, help me sue VW or let me borrow a 320d?

The R is dead. Taken to VW for a metallic noise, they drain the oil and find a lot of swarf. Currently waiting on a new engine and turbo

Lasted 7 weeks and 1400 miles!

lets hope they don't plug it in to discover you've been driving it like an absolute genocidal maniac from freezing cold every day, otherwise you're super-fked.

Was it similar to a grating or rubbing noise coming from the driver side engine area? If so... weeping

Would VW really have a leg to stand on in that situation? confused

Not being arsey BTW, it's a genuine question. I have been driving mine very hard since I had it, 2,400 miles in a month averaging 22MPG boxedin

given that 'the R is everywhere, so bloody common it has nothing special about it' surely the odd failure is to be expected when there a 'millions' of them out there, on lease?

This is why I would never buy an ex-lease car!

I've just called VW about a tinny sounding metallic rattle coming from mine under acceleration, is that the same problem?

My Alfa has slightly squeaky brakes....and it gets dirty when it rains, if that helps the VW owners feel any better.... wink

I wouldn't be surprised if the R dispatched the 330d in a straight line. And yes, it's the sheer defensiveness of Golf owners that hacks me off. On the other hand, I've never met an ahole with a 147GTA. They know it handles and torque-steers like a pig, the build quality ain't up to much, they're lucky if they see 25mpg, but they don't care, it's got THAT engine and it looks great - and that's all they care about!
I feel the same way about my Giuli QV, except it doesn't have THAT engine. I want THAT engine and might just buy a second car to get one!

Bloody hell... I've had similar from my M5, and there I was thinking the R would complement it as something a little more economical.

I did say average smile it's been down in the early teens when really hooning it.

As for that tiny vibrating noise, I think mine had it as we, I thought there was something in the passenger door pocket though, will have to keep an ear out for that frown

and me. VW Altrincham refused to look at it, saying they expected it to be a recall or at least a 'common fault' being designated, as they knew of at least 3 others. In the meantime, they said VW would be unlikely to pay out any (potentially extensive) investigation work so as much as that left my high and dry, they just shrugged their shoulders. VW Manchester didn't give anything additional, and VW themselves basically backed up the original dealer. Bunch of s. The car's great but that was a super st experience.

This is the one. Looks like my dealer is pretty good at listening to customer complaints!

Re. VW refusing warranty claims if the car I'd driven guard from cold - no chance. The engines are driven hard AG the factory for QC. Plus, it's ny Mrs' car and she drives it mostly in ECO!
