Arrrgh, after being astounded at how quickly they go tmy new driving licence to me after moving house, good old DVLA seem to have reverted to type and fked up a treat.

So I filled in the change of address thing on all my V5c's. Sure enough within a couple of days I've got new ones back through all showing the new address. This was a week ago.

Got home yesterday to a letter telling me I'm no longer the registered keeper of my TVRand a cheque for £90-something quid, which I'm assuming is a refund for road tax, evn though there was nothing explaining what this mystery cheque is!

Have the DVLA gone and "transfered" the car to me, cancelling the tax as per the new rules (rather than just registered a new address), I'm guessing this is what they have done.

Is my TVR now untaxed?

Will I be getting this for my other two cars? (I definitely didnt tick box 12 by the way!)

Am I pissing in the wind trying to get them to sort this out? Should I just take the "extra owner" on the chin and re-tax the car?

Wont I now be getting an automatic fine for not taxing the new car that I have just acquired?

This happened to me some years ago when I notified them of my change of address.
Their records were amended to show that I sold my TVR to a guy with the exact same name who lived at my new address. irked

Do they only do it to TVRs?

Did you manage to get them to "fix" it?

Added complication of the tax thrown in now too... frown

You can check the tax status on the government website

I just cussed a bit at and then forgot about it.
13 years later, I've still got the same car ..and the same house

Did you tick the new keeper box by accident? Lots of people do that you know.

Yes you're now untaxed, I doubt you'll get a fine, but yes you should get it taxed.

Extra owner could matter come sale time!

I'd try hard to get it sorted. But then I expect more than I should at times.

Scrap the DVLA completely or at least privatise it. Then fine the new company thousands for every screw up. Bet there would be far far fewer!

Left arm unaware what the right arm is doing. As another poster has said, an extra `owner` on the V5.

Oh well, it could be worse. The call centre could be in Bangladesh where you could be speaking to assistants called `Robert` and `Mary` (apparently) .

Oh dear....

At least it sounds like it can be fixed with a phone call.

Thankfully I don't need to drive the car and it looks like they put the other two through correctly (I hope)

Thanks for the help!

But the previous owner is shown on the V5,which will be the exact same person as the current owner.

I recall that a Police motorcyclist had his motorcycle entitlement deleted under similar circumstances.

They insisted that he'd never had that entitlement and told him that he'd have to take the test again.

The very reason I photocopy my documents when I send them to a shambles such as the DVLA...
