is that an M3? getmecoat if so I thought they had repair sections for the boot floor as they all rust-out or something? In which case you may be able to get it repaired.
It is ... the rear boot floors crack and are replaced by BMW but it's circa. a £4.5k job plus boot lid / rear bumper / exhaust and painting I would think = write off.

I doubt he was on the phone, he could hardly use the thing when I asked for his number. He was a senior citizen.

But then, who is expecting a car to be completely stopped in the middle of a (seemingly) clear road?

Are you on drugs?
Have you seen the video?
If in any way you think you might have done the same as the green car then please stop driving.

Wtf? are you joking?

Quite a violent lockup i'd bet the abs light being on so prob not functioning although it looks like they never made any effort to swerve anyway so I don't think it would of helped!

Crap luck atleast in this age theres lots of dash cams about now.

I always keep an eye on what's happening behind even once I'm stopped - and have moved forward on a couple of occasions to avoid being rear ended when the car behind needed just a few more feet.

I was taught to expect nothing on the road, but to pay attention and assess the situation constantly.

OP, assuming they do write it off, collect all the evidence you can that proves to replace your vehicle with one of equal age, mileage and condition will cost (say) £10k. When they come back with an offer of £8k, politely give them your evidence and ask them to do better. Your job is to show your car was the best example of this particular model that money could buy and you expect to be recompensed accordingly. good luck!

Can't believe how long you were stopped for, hazards on, stationary lorry opposite you, yet the Peugeot driver still manages that. Ridiculous.

Agree. Criminally ste driving by the person in the Peugeot, but don't expect them to be penalised for it. They'll be driving again and crashing again in no time.

What was seemingly clear about it?

I think it's fair to say there is little discussion to be had on liability.

But will I get £10k for my car so I can buy another good'un? If the book is £8k. What do you reckon. Dreaming? Worth my bother pushing back?

There's a difference between trying to defend and trying to come up with an idea of why an accident happened.

It's always worth pushing back, nothing to lose as they can only say no. They are trying to save money so will always start with a low offer in the hope you accept it.

I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned the ironically befitting soundtrack to the video! Couldn't be timed better.

Hope you get it all sorted out OP.
