Sun in Peugeot drivres eyes?
The sun is somewhat behind and to the right of the Pug driver, so that seems unlikely.

Can't believe how long you were stopped for, hazards on, stationary lorry opposite you, yet the Peugeot driver still manages that. Ridiculous.
And people moaned at TG sticking the knife into Peugeot and their drivers. Looks like they called right going by that. What planet do you think they were on there?

You need to try and find the price cars have sold for, not what there currently for sale at. Argue your case, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for a 10k pay out.

We could call this "Clarkson's Law" (as a new 'version' of Godwin's Law wink )??!?!

Or...

Last mid-decade, MG Rover; ten years later, Peugeot.

Few questions I have, just general self-questions...

Why the f*ck was you stopped so long, no hazards, nothing?

If you was going to drag it off the road, why didn't you pull onto that hard shoulder?

WHAT THE HELL WAS THE PEUGEOT DRIVER LOOKING AT? That's an awful long time to not be "with it"

His hazard lights WERE on? Watch the clip again.

It looks like you've not been "with it" for quite some time.

I really do think we need a Janet and John book of driving for the mouth-breathers out there.

Hazards were on all through the clip.

Lorry was approaching, getting out before it passed/stopped would be incredibly stupid.

There's something on the road big enough to cause someone to stop, pulling on to the hard shoulder means the next person hits is or swerves on to the hard shoulder or in to in coming traffic to avoid.

OP and lorry driver saw the obstruction and made the road 'safe' for one to remove it. If the Peugeot driver had been paying attention it would have been about as safe a removal of a dangerous object in the road as could have been done.

The issue is not so much that its a Peugeot but that its a sub £1000 car therefore indicating that the driver is a stig (not the TG racing driver sort) and is probably of low intelligence which I strongly suspect was the biggest factor in the collision.

This. Absolutely shocking......... driving without due care and attention surely? He basically doesn't hit the brakes until he is about 20 foot away.

Oh and my experience is the insurance Co will try to shaft you. You need to gather all your evidence showing why your car is an exceptional example and then gather evidence of cars for sale of similar quality.

If the offer is no good then push for more, exhaust their complaints procedure and go to the ombudsman if neccesssary.

I think it's fair to say there is little discussion to be had on liability.

But will I get £10k for my car so I can buy another good'un? If the book is £8k. What do you reckon. Dreaming? Worth my bother pushing back?
Absolutely worth pushing back. They will always low ball you. Get adverts and supply the bill, convince them if you sold tomorrow yours would be the best in the country.

Wherever they get to, if it's shy of its true value then you hurt your neck, take the extra out of them the mor Le expensive (to them) way

OP I think you handled the hazard exceptionally.

As for this Peugeot driver, I despair sharing the road with these cretins.

Frustrating for you but hopefully it will be sorted in some way to minimum inconvenience.

As for the accident. Out was clearly on a different planet, almost certainly on the phone. These people are a,I get us, and there are millions of them unfortunately. Scary.
But I'm not sire the truck helped entirely here. By stopping where he did, he's left no option for anyone, the road is completely blocked now. Maybe that was his idea, but that's a big risk on a main road with light traffic, high speeds etc.

It's scary to read how often someone is hurt or involved in an accident where they stop to offer some kind of assistance or help. You did entirely the right thing, but truck imho should have either kept well back or gone well past you before stopping, in order to keep the road "imho". Always have an 'escape route' if you can, that truck didn't really leave you or the pug one.

But it goes to show how what happens when some tt decides Facebook is more important that Cars and trucks I'm front of him.
Good luck getting it sorted.
