330 BHP from a 1.4. 235 BHP/litre. Bloody hell.

How much compression must that thing be running?
Probably less than 10:1 given how much boost pressure will be required to get 330hp from a 1.4!

Now what will be really interesting is what the result of this kind of conversion will be on a Twingo (or Smart)

Surprisingly affordable for the figures. I wonder how reliable it'll prove. smile

Yeah, I think it sounds great!

Can't even begin to imagine what 330BHP feels like in a Fiat 500!

I love the performance of my 595 comp - this however, would blow me away! My wife insists that I must keep mine up for sale however as we need something bigger!

Any proper information on that ?

Did they replace the gearbox and steering rack of the 500/Abarth, maybe thrown in a diff ?
The one thing the original Abarth 500 doesn't need is more power ....

That's brilliantly bonkers - it's crying out for an unnecessarily outrageous rear spoiler!

The 500 looks good. No word on a trick diff though?

I beg to differ. I think they're great.

Neat. I really do like the 500 as a performance car (I hate it in it's everyday guise!). However, I think the other one with the trick gearbox would be more to my tastes. I have to say as well, I'm not fussed on the colour of this one. It needs a good shiny clearcoat on it.
Takes all sorts, I prefer the every day guise with splashes of chrome.
They really do get a slot of hp out of these engines now. They had a 300hp 500 on the Gumball last year, very popular car on the rally, makes a change from the big low ones.

Great on light cars, terrible on heavy cars. Squishy sidewalls make them very marmite.

I was not a fan of that 55k Abarth at all; crazy money for this type of car. However, an Abarth plus 9k for this package appeals a lot more.
Someone do it and report back with your findings!

The guy who originally said they were bad drives a Civic EK9. I dare say his opinion wasn't based on experience.

You are right about the sidewalks though, the Impreza used to flex them a bit.

I did this to mine at the beginning of 2010, it's got well over 300 bhp now.

Good work.

Love the look of that! And as value for money compared to other iterations, definitely!!!

Can see people going this way with the price of used Abarths available. Wish I had the nerve...

I'm somewhat surprised that the tyres aren't a tad wider to try to get more grip on the road and improve the 0-60 acceleration time.

Wonder also what it's like on anything but smooth flat tarmac (unlike what we have round my way!), found that the stiffness of the Abarth Esseesse (remapped) that I had along with the short wheelbase, made for pretty choppy going.

Don't get me wrong, the grip was tenacious round the B roads by me, but made for an uncomfortable ride after a while. The remap liberated the turbo and in-gear acceleration was great, making a trip down to Cornwall via A303 a hoot, blasting past stodgemobiles who didn't expect it. Pulled like a train past 120 too.

Sorry - what??

Now that's a car for the (reasonably well off) massessmile

Matt - clarify "For Abarth 500 owners who feel their car is missing a little pep, the Pogea Racing conversion costs 12,500 euros (c. £9,100). Complete cars cost 43,500 euros, or about £31,700."

We read that 2 ways - the performance mods only ("pep")costs £9k, to do all the bits seen (paint, leather etc plus performance) was £30k. Or do you mean you can donate a car and get this end product for an extra £9k on your Abarth (or buy one for £8k!), but need £30k if you want Pogea to source the car??

I can't see an end product looking like theirs for "only" £17k!! That'd be a real (a real!!!!) bargain............ More like that £30k+.....

But a standard looking car with that go...... Now that'd float my boat!

Genuine question:
Assuming the road is straight, why would rwd give better traction off the line than fwd?
