I do regard this as being a complete bullst routine. If you want a "well it's still on a bit" setting, include one. Off should mean off.
This reminds me of all the "Soft Brexit" bks. We didn't vote for a trade deal we voted out. Now stop piss arsing about and pull the bloody plug.

Just like traction control. If it says "off" it should be off.
Whoa whoa whoa, there's more than anough dicks spouting ste about Brexit elsewhere - don't get them started on this thread too

It snows so little in some parts of the UK that there always seems to be a new crop of folks who have never driven on it.
They range from the people who have a panic attack at any hint of slipperiness to the others who are overconfident.
overconfident i.e. i have a range rover evoque (2WD) so therefore i am impervious.
That's the one. We don't often get much snow here on the coast in the South West, but a few years ago we got about a foot of snow. Took the kids up to the local park which is on a steep hill. There's a road that runs up the hill next to the park. As we drive past the junction at the bottom of this road I had to stop to watch some muppet in a brand new Q7 go sliding straight across the junction with his brakes locked. He went straight over and through the front wall of an old Victorian house that had been converted into a dentists surgery. Obviously hadn't given much thought to the physics, and that having 4wd drive doesn't help you stop, especially on 20" rims and summer tyres :-)

I think so - staggered wheels on a FWD makes little sense. Especially when they're wider at the rear.

^^ I expected off to be off, but the light on the dash still came on.

Obviously a design feature to stop librarians overseeing on a damp road, which is probably what the ECU was thinking was happening.

Today - coming home from work early to take my wife to the doctor.

White van along side me - us both going onto a two lane slip road, but he decides to cut the corner while his moronic passenger gawps out of the window at me. Has the audacity to give me the finger just because I happened to show a little displeasure at being squeezed up against the kerb to avoid a collision.

You sir are a prize tit and you drive worse than my nan (she couldn't drive and has been dead for almost 10 years).

The Beep Beep lady-knob in the BMW 4 series that went 4 junctions on the m1 (10-14) this morning with her fog lights on, naturally at the right lane. Worst of all, when I lined-up next to her in lane 2 so I can point that out, sped up and nearly ran into the car in front. Made my blood boil.

The dangerous twit in a blue Seat last night on my way home made me think knob. It was a little misty here and there, they had their rear fogs ablaze and were travelling at 15mph. When I overtook they veered right forcing me onto the verge. Then they flashed wildly at me because that meant we nearly hit.

It was really close, hitting the verge at about 40mph was not fun and there was some corrective steering. I was lucky there were no drainage gullies.

Also, knob points to the Audi A1 driver that followed me through somehow and then followed too close when we did eventually encounter some fog.

And some more to the Passat driver with his piercing fog light on even later in the journey in some rain.

Fog makes people stupid.

I nominate me - for being a bit petty this morning. Travelling along the twisties, bit misty, light traffic, doing c.45-50 in the NSL alternately full beam/dipped depending upon oncoming traffic. SUV catches me up and sits about a foot off my bumper - so close that I can't see his headlights in my mirror. This is a little dangerous, thinks I, but not wanting to press on any more than my current speed, I maintain a steady 45-ish. Fella behind starts dropping back and accelerating right back up to my bumper a few times (mental effort to barge me out of the way?). Right, I'm not having this. Nothing oncoming - straight section of road - I take foot off gas, indicate left, and drop down to 40 ... 35 ... 30 ... 25 ... then start crawling at 20. He sits behind me all the time despite clear road to overtake. Now, I am in no hurry, and no third car has joined our convoy so it is just matey and me, I sit at 20 for a minute or three (we've now gone back into the twisty bit so no overtake opportunity). When we do finally make it onto the next straight, a downhill into a 30-limit, SUV floors it and was last seen hammering into the 30 zone at probably twice that speed.

So me, for being petty.

People turning left at roundabouts who don't indicate. Self-absorbed spacktards.

Not just roundabouts. Don't forget the people turning left into the road you're waiting to pull out of too.

I don't think you were being petty. You were aiding the guy in making an overtake, one that he did't even know to do because he's so used to being a twit and sitting inches away from peoples bumpers. Any normal person would have pulled the overtake with you at 45/50 if an opportunity presented itself!

Exactly what I would, and have, done with tailgaters. So don't feel bad. The HC also recommends this, if it is safe to do so.
Rather have them in front and away than an eye to eye view of the driver in your rear view.

I drive an auto. I hold it on the brakes at the lights. Stop staring at my brake lights, you moaning old bags, and worry about your own car rolleyes
Learn to use a handbrake and stop dazzling people behind you at the lights. There's no need to hold it on the foot brake, it's just laziness.

You don't have to stare directly at a bright light source for it to be uncomfortable, particularly at night and especially if it's raining as well.

White van man who flashed his lights and shook some imaginary coffee beans at me this morning.

I'm cycling (stay with me) overtaking a mile of stationary traffic on the offside, some cars see me coming in their mirrors and move in slightly, some don't (thats fine), very little traffic coming the other way.

Anyway, plodding along, staying the correct side of the centre lines, and here comes Captain Brain Dead flashing his lights and gesticulating. Loads of room (obviously, as I would stand more to lose if I didn't leave enough room...). Utter knob.

Or maybe it was me, dressed up like a cycle knob with lights and bright clothing?!

My car has 'Auto-Hold' so when I stop the car holds the brakes on stopping me from moving until I press the throttle. Kinda like a soft-handbrake.

Using auto-hold will keep the brake lights on even if my foot is off the pedal.

Better get used to it as most cars are going this way.
