M6 southbound near J4 the other day, a white Range Rover reg'd 'B1 GAY' bimbling along in the middle lane at around 50mph with nothing else about except me coming on the inside lane. I overtook him the proper way in the outside lane, indicating as I did so, pulled back over to the left and got the flashing headlamps routine...
Have you got a weird fetish for inside lanes or something?Cliftonite said:

Have you got a weird fetish for inside lanes or something? The clown today who went to the effort of getting half of his body out through the rear passenger window of a small silver (Punto, possibly) hatchback on the A327 Minley Road today.
What he was yelling at me I have no idea. By the time he hauled his scrawny carcass out of the window the car was too far away for me to hear a word he was yelling. But it was accompanied by frantic pointing toward the nearside carriageway edge.
Sorry, sonny boy, but if you want to chat you'll need to stop the car first. Which is difficult when you're not driving it. And if it was the adjacent "cycle path" to which you were pointing? Yes, I'm well aware that it's there. I'm not using it because it is absolutely crap, and hasn't been maintained for about 15 years, so stuff that in yourpipe bong and smoke it...
And the butt muncher in the silver Ford Focus yesterday who overtook me and continuously sounded his horn as he passed me. Not normally that much of an issue, but I was in the middle of making a right turn at the time. The fact that we were approaching a four-way junction with double solid white lines at the time might clue you in to why my reaction was to raise a middle finger in your direction, you jeffin' retread... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Odiham,+Hook,+...
...and before the accusations start, Yes! I carried out proper observations prior to positioning to the right of my lane. Yes! I made a good, clear, approved signal to indicate my intention to turn. Yes! There was plenty of space between us when I moved over to the right. Simple fact is that, as the road user ahead on the road I was well within my rights to make my turn ahead of him. FFS, I was getting off the road he wanted to be on anyway, so why accelerate to create conflict where there was none? What possible point could you be trying to prove? I held position further to the left after my first two shoulder checks because an Astra and a Transit van were a bit too close to move safely out. At the third check, this cretin was but a speck in the distance, at the top of the hill, so he had plenty of time to observe, see me, and make a plan based on my (clearly signalled) intention, to deal with my turn. Personally, in his position, I'd have lifted off the accelerator briefly and then accelerated as the cyclist (ie: me) cleared the lane. If I'd been a slower driver indicating right, I doubt very much that he'd have pulled the same stunt. An utter stroker.

Bless! You've got to love them, though.I've endured 25 years of random strangers trying to blow me up or shoot me. If they knew anything about me, they'd know that a couple of Rodneys on an internet forum have hardly got the ammo to put me back in my box...
As I've pointed out before, one in particular likes to wax lyrical about how much he doesn't read what I post, yet is driven to respond every time I contribute to the thread. Bizarre behaviour, really. He could just skip my posts, ignore them, and go back to licking his own testicles, or whatever the hell it is that he does while he waits patiently to pounce on my latest musings. Nearly nine hours this time, so he's slacking a bit.
Still, Having to edit a post that contains two words and a smilie? Says it all really...
I'm away for a week now, so may well be unable to post 'til I get back. Don't wait up, chaps

My sister did this for ages until I pointed out one day she wasn't driving an automatic. ORD said:
Good man. The bullying on here is as pathetic as it is ineffectual. Post whatever you want, mate. If I find it boring, I'll skim over it and not respond...like a grown up.
He's your stereotypical helmetcam-wearing cyclist knob that goes out looking for trouble. Every post he makes is the same format, how he's the greatest and never makes a mistake and how everyone else is out to kill him and here's some googlemap street view pics of where it happened, right outside that house with the red gate and cream curtains, and here's 14 quotes from the Highway Code to further prove how right I am just in case you were starting to have doubts.I bet he's got a 2TB HDD crammed full of helmet cam clips of drivers "trying to kill" him that he's desperate to post on here but knows that he'll get lynched.
I do like how you've said "if I find it boring I'll skim over it and not respond" and then never respond to his rants. Says it all really.

Volvo XC90 on a single track lane, when we saw each other he was about to pass a passing point, so I thought he'd stop and let me through, he didn't and came towards me, I hadn't had a passing place for a while but didn't have time to hold my ground so reversed so he could come through, didn't thank me either or make any acknowledgement.
Luckily a Tesco van a minute later on the same road made me feel better, met him just after a bend, he immediately started reversing, I flashed and reversed into a small track attached to the corner, he waved, gave a thumbs up and a flash of the light to thank me, not everyone is bad.

I met a man in an Audi today. He wouldn't let me join a non moving slip road. The whole queue is dressed in pink to go to a charity run as was my wife. Anyway, I indicated early whilst doing the 10 mph crawl up the road and thought he let me as I saw a gap, that was until he sped up to block the move with horn blasting, very charitable. It would have made no difference to him to let me in safely, instead I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders.
I drove up the queue and some kind chap let me. Odd behavior.
