Surely it's the motorist who's the knob?
And the journalist/proof reader for failing to note who the motorist was fighting. Not a common item to find on the battlefield your speed camera,

Two came and went in my life today

No 1 on the A322 at Bracknell there are roadworks and a 40 mph limit. A heavily tinted Zafira decided that slipstraming was a good idea through these, at the NSL i summomed up all the ooomph my V70 diesel could must nd upped it to 70 fully expecting Mr Z to follow Nooooooo. they just sat on 60 ish in the outside lane much to the chagrin of those behind. After the Swinley Bottom lights there is a 50 limit, i am peeling off to Bagshot so happily sitting at 50 in the inside lane. Mr Z zooms past at 60?????

No 2 some st for brains white transit connect driver ,coming up behind me on the A30 to the lights at the fire Station,on red BTW, decideds that 45 and me slowing for said lights is making him megalate for whatever he needs to do, and copious flashing of his lights isnt helping his cause so he does an undertake and cuts in front just to emphasise the fact. However he cannot make progress due to the trffic in front going along the A30 and sis in front of me ,pushing the bimbler in front of him, but at the New Waitrose lights he sees his chance and gets in the outside lane and tanks it off, only to slow to 30..yes 30 from there to the Bagshot RH turn.
I often wonder what IQ these people have

I suspect it's one of the numbers you mention in the main paragraph...

Motorcyclists who insist on constantly blipping their throttle while stationary. Do modern bikes not tickover then?
My very first post was on this subject. Got a load of abuse, presumably from bikers. Almost left PH immediately, glad I didn't as it's fun and very informative.

To present a fair and balanced view, I present the nugget in the A6 on my journey home yesterday who through inattention missed the turn right from Hornsey Lane into Hornsey Road, and attempted to take the left-hand oncoming lane to turn right. He realised his mistake when he noticed a white vehicle looking bemused as it waited to turn right from Hornsey Road into Hornsey Lane.

Said nugget did look mildly shocked at his mistake, visibly cringed in his seat, offered up the palm as an apology, mouthing "Sorry!".

Said nugget was me ...eek

Not content with that mistake, I made another mis-judgement closer to where I live. I thought a bus had stopped at a bus stop, and from checking that there were no vehicles approaching in the oncoming lane, mirror checked, signalled, and performed my manoeuvre. To my embarrassment I discovered that the bus hadn't actually stopped at the bus stop, but was in a queue waiting for the lights to change. Thus, I had to mirror check, signal, grovel re: flash hazard lights when let back into my original position.

Arriving home, I realised that I had forgotten to take any shopping bags with me, so had to immediately jump back in after collecting some shopping bags, to drive to the supermarket. Fortunately. this small trip was uneventful.

I've been driving for 20 years and I'd like to think I've seen some pretty crap and irresponsible driving in that time. And I include myself in that listfrown

However this morning's commute proved that there's always someone who's prepared to go to DEFCON 1 in the knob stakes.spin

The one who broke the mould was the tool in a 5 Series bombing along in lane 4 of the M1 this morning, inches from the car in front........while reading a bloody report!

And I don't mean just a quick glance, but properly head down concentrating, page after page, with occasional glances to the road ahead. He then indicated to pull of at the next junction. As I passed him I noticed he'd put down the report......and replaced it with a smartphone! FFS!banghead

Not really worth starting a new topic, and perhaps knob is a bit strong a word, but my Brother in Laws father in law takes some beating.

Recently, he was about to drive down to my Bil and his wife for the day, they'd made a lovely big meal and everything in anticipation of them arriving, a couple of hours, the mother phoned up and said that they wouldn't be coming after all, as it's just started to rain and the husband didn't want to get their car wet.

Soon after, they came into possession of a house and got two valuations, 175k and 150k, the FiL then stated 'I don't think it's worth that, put it on for £125!'

There are some funny people out there.

Yeah I had something similar, then you realise there are idiots on every forum (especially close forumites that defend their friends, even when being utter knobs), and you just have to focus on the positive stuff.

Like you said, it can be fun and informative.

What do you do when say your out for a bimble and a car with someone driving along is yakking away on a phone...wag a finger? Shake your finger? Give a stty look??????
Pull alongside, wind window down and shout "Put the phone down you stupid bh."
That's bound to get negative response and it will all be forgotten by them the next call.

It would be more humane to shout "You do know that at least two traffic cameras have captured you on the phone. You're totally fked mate"

Two weeks of misery, will do them good, while they worry if a NIP is coming.

the stupid bint who, at 9:30 at night came home to find someone in her parking space and decided the best thing to do was repeatedly beep her horn.

By the time I'd got down there someone had shouted down to her, which she assumed was me. It wasn't.

- Why are you swearing at me
- I didn't
- So you didn't shout "shut the fk up"?
- No, but (with a sense of mischief) why is it ok for you to swear at me
- I didn't
- You did, you said, "so you didn't shout shut the fk up"
- But I didn't swear...

- Anyway, please don't beep your horn like that, you've now woken my son and annoyed everyone in the building

Eventually someone came out and was getting into his car without saying anything, so I asked him to apologise because he'd annoyed this woman who'd then annoyed everyone in a 100 yard radius

God knows why the woman didn't just go and park on the road and leave a note on the car, it's not like it's a highly secure car park or anything.

I was knocked off my bike last night on Lynn Road, Wisbech's 50mph zone I was hit in the arm by the mirror from a dark blue, 53-reg, Peugeot 307SW with blacked out windows.

My arm feels like I've done too many bicep curls but I twisted my back on the way down and am stiff as a board.

It was a hit and run and I'm more annoyed I didn't get the whole number plate than anything else. furious

The thing that got me was I was overtaken safely by an Astra, a Corsa and then hit. So the driver must have seen the other cars move out of the way, the driver must have seen me in my neon orange and yellow outfit. I have a couple of theories.

1/ He deliberately hit me. There was no hesitation, braking or change of course at all as he ran.
2/ He's one of an increasing number of wkers on the road who overtake cyclists as close as possible as if it's a sport.

Either way it's Careless/Dangerous Driving and Leaving the scene of a collision.

Anyway I've started this thread...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

...to help others be aware of trouble spots and troublesome drivers.

I have another theory...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4nBjcM1xko

...the first time I wore my neon orange t'shirt that near miss and poor attempt of intimidation happened. The second time I was hit. I think I need to stop wearing that t'shirt on my bike as it was raining this morning I wore my yellow jacket over it and nothing happened at all. scratchchin

wink

As I'll have to drive to work tonight. I'll leave early and wait in the lay by near yesterdays collision to get the whole number plate for my interview with the Police tomorrow. I've seen the car several times I'm sure it's a commuter on his way home.

That's shocking Liquid Knight! There's a junction on my commute that I get this a lot at. People squeezing past to either turn across me or to get past to where it narrows even more for some lights. I get so many near misses on a daily basis, but there isn't another route to work. Hope you get the scumbags reg plate tonight.

God, this gets my goat. I'm disproportionately annoyed by it at the moment as my windows are open. I live on the 4th floor of a nice block, although there are residents in the flats below whose visitors tend to announce their arrival by beeping the horn. Then again. Then again. I'm considering stocking up in order to be able to deploy eggs at persistent offenders.

Possibly the biggest knob of recent times was the man seeking to enter the office car park via the access road behind me. There was a delivery lorry dropping off to the Tesco Express and knobbo just had to sit behind him beeping. Despite there being room to drive around it. Just sitting in his 3 series beeping. Luckily he worked it out after a while.

My own view from NOT being the sort of person who thinks the world revolved around them - I think I would have been happier with the outcome if you had directed a lot more of your anger at the guy who parked in her space.

If not for that selfish act, the whole situation would NEVER have occurred.

As it now stands, he is probably having a good laugh at both your expense.

Just overheard a colleague telling another that they got a parking fine yesterday and they're fuming. Cut a long story short, they'd parked in a disabled spot as they'd only be 10 minutes nipping to a shop. Came back and a fine on the windscreen for unauthorised use of a disabled bay. Bit they're fuming about is they were literally 10 minutes and had caused no trouble to anyone. They've now appealed the fine as they have a clean license and was only 10 minutes...

I had to bite my tongue so as not to offend.

well the fine is prob £60 now, but it will be double later. I'd have bit my tongue for that reason alone.
