Arab. Us asians dont hire cars. We usually use our relatives car' and it is parked right in front of the hall, and not touched until well past the end of the wedding.

Weddings are parties in Asian culture, but not much alcohol but rather a lot of Pepsi and 7up.
Really ?

Then is the proliferation of supercar hire business in East London,Leicester, Birmingham, Bradford and Blackburn emoter my unrelated then ?

Judging by the number of them and the quality of their fleets I assumed that hiring into the Asian (mostly Pakistani and Bengali) communities was highly lucrative.

Two polar opposites today;

Secondly, we have the opposite - daft OAP in a green focus doing approx no more than 15 MPH up a fairly steep hill, I thought I'd have to get out and push him at one point! Dear god granddad, put your bloody foot down! Anyone with common sense knows to tackle this hill you need to give it a little welly on the approach - NOT climb up it in 1st gear like you're driving a battery powered golf cart.

Yes, I admittedly did give you a very faint horn blast when you slowed to 5 MPH (!!!) for no particular reason once we got over the crest of the hill. Give me dirty looks all you like you silly old throbber but I'd already clocked the inbound people carrier behind us just as we went over the hill and it was only a matter of time before I was rear ended by it unless you got a bloody shift on!

He's in no hurry, and why should he be?

As an 'OAP' myself, I take exception to that.

Fast forward a few years when you are a bit doddery and slow and are annoyed at the boy racers up your bumper.

fking metal-detectorists. Not only do they feel the need to dress like fking Rambo in order to poke around in a stubbly field, but apparently they also have to park lengthwise across the entrance to said field, a space which commonly takes three cars parked side by side. Knobs.

The knob I encountered this morning who obviously didn't want to go to work.

Three times he stopped, not slowed, stopped the traffic on the main road to let folk in from minor sideroads. The worse one being the third time when I was directly behind him and he stopped again despite there being about 200m of clear road behind me.
Even if you were not driving very close he may have considered your proximity as 'tailgating'? His response is a common one & one I have no compunction of using myself IF the following driver really is so close as to be in my judgement dangerous. Furthermore I will come to a complete standstill at an empty roundabout. Interestingly my response does sometimes result in the tailgater backing off & when that is the case I resume driving normally without intentionally causing inconvenience.
I can guarantee you he was not getting tailgated. He did it twice with other drivers behind him (I was about 5 cars back in the queue) and on the third occasion with me directy following him. He was just a st driver generally - also did that thing where he had to brake every 100m for no reason.

He may not be, but the world doesn't revolve around him. Other people may be in a hurry. Selfish tts like that need to pull over and let others past if they're not in a hurry.

Exactly.

WD seems to post up the same response every time Coffin Dodgers get condemned for this!

I thought you would take exception, as you often do and hurry to the defence of your cohort.

If your defence to someone driving at 5 MPH in a 30 zone just over the crest of a hill is that "He's in no hurry" then I'm sorry to say you've failed to defend your cohort and should hand in your licence. Had I not beeped my horn I'm in no doubt the silly old dithering fool would have continued on resulting in me being rear ended by the car coming up the hill behind us who's not going to expect to find two cars sat there at such as slow speed.

Made me think knob today:

The complete cock gobbler in a Black 08 plate VW Polo driving into Porlock village coming from Minehead.

As a train of 5 cars ahead of him waited to let opposing traffic through a narrow point he thought it would be a good idea to over take the lot of them, or maybe he thought they'd parked up? Ended up with the opposing traffic coming through at him, and he then took several minutes to twig what a tt he had been and start to reverse.

Then just to confirm how much of a useless ste he is, he then drives up Porlock hill (1 in 3 gradient) and manages to stall just after the first bend.... and then roll back towards a Jag XF. Which he would have hit had the XF, the 5 series behind him, and myself not all rolled back too so he didn't hit him. He then took another 3-4 minutes to get his car started and screamed the crap out of the clutch all the way up the hill in 1st.

If he'd have had P plates on he'd get more of a pass, but he looked like he was in his 40's.

At least he wasn't on a pedal cycle biggrin

Talking of P plates above.

I was behind an Audi Q3 or 5 yesterday that had 2 P plates, stuck onto the sides of the car,

where drivers behind had less chance of seeing them.

P for pointless.

Maybe the one on the rear fell off or had been nicked.

Oh and they stopped on a yellow box junction too ,good going there !

I've always thought good driving is about anticipation, and as much about what's happening behind you and who you might be holding up, as what's happening in front of you.

Not wanting to drive at 5-15MPH, presumably in a 30MPH zone, makes you a boy racer?!

The two young hedgehog cookers who were riding a pony and cart through a section of town yesterday. They were happily sitting in the middle of the road and throwing their McDonalds rubbish on to the pavement, but I couldn't beep or shout in case I startled the pony.
Ignorant twonks!

To all boy racers, in thought if not in actuality, someone has got to defend/stick up for/cheerlead for us 'OAP' types, who are in no hurry and wish to enjoy our driving without the accompanient of serial speeders and tailgaters.

This has been, and always will be, a part of motoring, so take a deep breath and go with it, as there will be time and a place later in your journey to move your right foot closer to the carpet, hopefully well ahead of me.

No, nobody has to stick up for selfish, inconsiderate and unfit drivers. Stop being so obtuse - you will obviously get "tailgated" and perceive other drivers as "speeders" if you do 5-15mph when it's not necessary.

These old duffers really need to hand their licences in. I hate selfish drivers/people.

All minorities need a champion, I humbly accept, with tears in my eyes, the nomination.
