The 50 percent of the traffic on the m25 today who just could not move over from L3, even though 1 and 2 were clear. Great way to reduce the capacity of the motorway by half, you utter fking spastoids.

People that sit at 45mph in a 30, then 45mph in a NSL and give you full beams when you overtake. Every. Bloody. Morning.

YOUNG GUY in a micra this morning gave me about 10 seconds of full beams because I overtook him doing just a smidge under 30 in a 60. He showed no interest in speeding up.

You reminded me of the people who slow to 40 past the big 40 sign saying "40" entering the 40 limit, continue at 40 past the repeater signs saying 40, spot the big yellow speed camera with the next repeater signs saying 40 clearly visible just beyond it and...

... brake down to 27mph to ensure they pass the camera at less than 30. mad

This morning's knob was the Civic driver who approached a double roundabout in the left lane, veered across into the middle lane forcing me into the right lane and then exited in the left lane. Traffic was quite heavy so I was not amused at potentially being unable to take my exit because he was a moron.

This confused old duffer trying to enter a fuel station forecourt off a roundabout which happens to be the forecourt exit. Upon realising all the pumps were blocked, he rolls backwards onto the roundabout and rolls to a stop facing the wrong way (figure 1). The drivers door opens and a wrinkly old hand appears, waving traffic which he is now facing to pass. A number of unimpressed drivers squeeze through, including a black X5. The X5 pulls round the roundabout and does a U-turn, waiting at the opposite exit. Eventually the old boy starts crawling round the roundabout the wrong way, taking the exit from the direction he came. The X5 slots in behind and on come the covert blue lights, however the geriatric just stops in his tracks, blocking the rest of the traffic leaving the roundabout. Eventually he moves out of the way and into the forecourt, where police block him in and have words.

DRLs again (potentially).

I come up behind a SUV (66 plate, possibly a Honda) with no rear lights in total darkness last night. In and out of tiny villages and what surprised me is that they were switching their full beams on when out of the villages. I flashed them, lots, but they didn't pay any attention for the 5+ minutes I followed them.

I can kind of work out why they may not have noticed they didn't actually have their lights on...

a) the stupid design decision for most new cars to have always illuminated instrument clusters

b) well lit villages, meaning when not on full beam they probably wouldn't have noticed any difference, and my headlights would have been illuminating reflective road signs for them

c) No traffic coming the other way to flash them as well

But, surely you can't switch full beam on without having headlights on?!

The complete cock womble who pulls up to the right of me at a roundabout, where i'm going straight across, and get's very upset for the next 5 miles when I unfortunately block his exit from the roundabout because he's not going right.... he's also going straight ahead.

How am I supposed to know, that when someone's sat next to you in the right hand lane, that they actually want to out accelerate you across the roundabout and overtake (single cariageway both sides with dual carriageway crossing left/right!) rather than turn right????

As it happened.... I had a hunch the "knob" was going to do this so made a point of flooring it across in my lane, which is naturally a tighter turn and further distance, to leave him hanging.... he might have got away with it if was in a little stbox, unfortunately I was in an Evo 8 :-S

Does this make me the "knob" :-)

Technically no, but in similar circumstances if it's obvious that somebody is attempting a 'cheeky overtake' by doing that (and it often is obvious, as you've said yourself you had a hunch he would do), I just practice the art of defensive driving and let them crack on, particularly as my 2 year old is often in the car now.

I've seen too many close calls where the driver in the right lane (and then the driver in the left lane) just doesn't give in, ending up with the knob on the wrong side of the road (into incoming traffic). There are no 'winners' in those circumstances.

Admittedly when I was younger and in a more powerful car I probably would have done exactly as you did.

I see this nearly every single day and it drives me nuts. Luckily only once I've been unfortunate enough to come up behind someone at night with no lights on, it wasn't a close call as I could tell there was a car in the distance with no rear lights on but some people might not notice.

Quintuple knob-whammy this morning at a bit before 7:

1) Smoky Vauxhall Zafira diesel with huge VRX alloys
2) With no lights on at all
3) Tries to turn left through a "no left turn" red light
4) Attempting to go the wrong way down this (one-way!) street despite a car, waiting patiently at the lights, clearly blocking his access.
5) Then sits in the middle of the road holding down his horn, expecting the other driver to move.

Seriously, if you're that st at it, get a fking bus pass.

I was turning right on a small roundabout on Saturday when I noticed the car that joined alongside at the same time on my left was going rather fast for someone about to leave the roundabout before me.
Almost as if he was going to - yes he was going to go all the way around the outside and go back the way he came and was trying to get past the right exit before I got there.
He just whizzed past my nose as I took the exit.

If I hadn't realised what was going on it would have been pretty shocking. Unfortunately for him I did and he would have been quite concerned about collecting a Range Rover amidships as he 'just' made it. hehe

I was a little surprised at how ineffective rear reflectors were. I would have needed to be going some to actually run into the back of them by not noticing until it was too late, but they were far less visible than I would expect.

Seriously speaking, why aren't the rear lights of vehicles lit up too when front DRL's are active? My E93 335i and E82 135i both had the rear lights on when I had the DRL's on but, my C63 doesn't have the rear lights on with DRL's, only when the main headlamps activate.

It doesn't necessarily bother me, because on both BMW and Merc the DRL's were only on as part of the Auto headlamp setting, meaning that if it was dark enough, all lights would switch on before I became that "knob" but, I suppose some cars must have a DRL only feature or are without auto-lights.

I think the issue comes with the fact the most cars now have the dashboards illuminated all of the time. So to sit in a car, as someone not paying particular attention, you might think that you have your lights on. It does amaze me though how many people drive in the dark unlit, and seemingly fail to notice.

Mine (Skoda) don't, but I'm also pretty sure I can't operate my full-beams without actually switching my lights on.

The new Honda (I think) I was following clearly only had DRLs active but was able to use full-beam (and I'm 99% sure they were doing it manually), which seems like a bizarre design quirk/decision.

Mrs Jim AK has a basic 1.2 Polo, 2013 vintage.

It uses the headlights as DRL's & the rear lights too, no poncy LED's, dash lights up during the day but not in the dark, except for the speedo & rev counter needles so it looks weird & makes you put lights on properly.

DRL's should be the cars head & rear lights, just like my old 56 plate Volvo!!

Encountered so many Bellends in the fog last week just using DRL's.
