But when does commenting on culture become racism?
It's surely a very blurry line.
I have often wondered why if you called me a fat bd that would not be as bad as me calling a black man a black bd.
Surely they are equally offensive?
Well if you were to suggest that a culture as a whole acted in a particular way - say for example suggesting that asians are aggressive rudeboy drug dealing tts, then yes, that is racist.

There is no cultural relevance to the negative aspects of what happened in that video. I wasn't surprised to see asians, but then I wouldn't have been surprised to see chavs or black rudeboys either.

And if you were a 'fat bd' - you have an element of choice over your appearance - you can choose to lose weight by eating less and exercising - and being fat is unhealthy. Is being Indian unhealthy? Can I choose to change it by living a healthier lifestyle? (not that I would want to choose to change it).

So its ok to abuse someone if they're fat because its their fault?

People are too easily offended.

I really wouldn't care if someone called me white or started generalising about my behaviours based on my ethnicity.

Funnily enough it's more likely that the people offended by the racial remarks to this video are not Asian at all. It's the sheltered white middle aged middle class chronically offended PC crowd.

I don't recall suggesting so. I think abusing anyone for whatever reason is nasty and unnecessary. I simply illustrated why racism is a significantly more serious offense than criticising someones weight.

There is something inherently wrong with being fat - it causes numerous health problems and significantly increases likelihood of early death. There is a reason being fat is bad - abusing someone for it is just nasty.

There is nothing wrong with being indian/Pakistani/black etc. other than some fking idiotic and usually rather less educated (academically or otherwise) peoples views that white is for some reason superior to any others.

I'm sure you'll find a way to take my above post out of context... I look forward to your response.

I think, regardless of race that a significant amount of the British public have no idea how to behave, saw a woman (a white one) launch a crisp bag out of her car window the other day, it bounced off my windscreen, she pulled into the same supermarket car park and I mentioned it politely but she just ignored me.

Whenever you go out you see examples of it, parking in disabled bays, littering, swearing, spitting, being impolite and selfish.

It crosses all social and racial boundaries, this lot in the video are basically animals and all they focus on is image and instant gratification.

Well being white means you have never been subjected to racial hatred and being made to feel inferior to the rest of the people around you due to the colour of your skin.

And, just as I expected - the "PC gone mad" crowd have appeared to justify their casual racism.

Some sweeping generalisations that you have made there based only on my race.

White people are also subject to racism. Maybe you need to be more PC and take other peoples feelings into consideration.

Yes I see that to be the case nowadays - and I condemn racism regardless of the offender or target.

My point still stands though - anyone who had suffered at the hands of racism wouldn't have made the comment to which I responded to - they would know how horrid it is.

I work with a black lady who says stuff about white people that would get us arrested if it was the other way round.

Oh? I regularly get abuse from Asian lads - very often in their pimped out BMWs and Audis.

And my sister got beaten so hard by a load of Asian - Pakistani to be specific - lads that her arm was broken. Why? Because she told them to "fk off" when they were making sexually abusive remarks to her.

So don't talk st.

Not abuse. Taunt and take the piss, yes. Chubbiness, like religion and driving a Meriva is a lifestyle choice.

Are you circumferentially challenged? smile

That's absolutely acceptable because as we all know only white people can be racist.

I'm imagining a film called 'Black men can't jump'. It's about a bunch of white guys deriding a black guy for not being able to jump high enough due to his inferior black athleticism.

Do you think it will be well received?

And I would criticise her no less than I would those on here. I recall having a very heated argument with a Muslim ex (I'm Hindu) when she said something extremely offensive about Jewish people.

So your sister got beaten up by abusive scumbags because she didn't take kindly to their sexual advances - where is the relevance of their race? How was it racist?

And did you read my previous post? Racist comments - see my response to the other poster above - I'm sorry to hear that.

However - try being a race that constantly gets criticism from the national press, the whole country (as in - racists all over the country, not that everyone is racist) as opposed to a few isolated incidents. Did you grow up being racially abused and beaten up, being made to think that you were worth less because you weren't white? Or have you been subjected to some isolated (and by the sounds of it, upsetting) incidents?

You clearly didn't like being racially abused - yet your tone is sympathetic toward the casual racism in this thread - do you believe you were more wronged as a white person being racially abused than an ethnic minority being abused?

Racism is bad - regardless of the race of the target or perpetrator - you having been racially abused as a white person does not make it excusable for anyone to racially abuse minorities.

Ayway - this is my last post on the subject - as per every other thread I've commented on, my comments are starting to be taken out of context, and the typical defenses of those who are clearly "I'm not racist but..." and "PC gone mad" are the same usual crap and there's nothing new being said.

I suggest that those of you who are defending the comments go and make these comments to a bunch of indians/Pakistanis/black people as casually as you seem to be comfortable making here and let us know how you get on in the workplace, tube, restaurants, bars etc..

Up here in Birmingham a road rage insult last night resulted in a nearly fatal stabbing.

Sounds extreme but in society we seem to go through cycles.

100 years ago the old white gangsters would be terrorising the streets doing exactly the same.
