If this happened, and frankly it all sounds like a load of ste, then the op was a fking idiot for speeding up and yes, was at least partially responsible.

She may have some anger issues. And opinions which would go down well here...

I've never admitted to blocking an overtake. I increased my speed to try to stop them attempting to overtake.

AIBU (am I being unreasonable) to think "tribal " tattoos are ugly as I date lots of younger guys, and there seems to be a real trend for these. They are usually massive and ever expending. They don't need a lot of skill to execute compared to the more arty styles and dh (darling husband) and I frequently see tribal cover ups on the various instagram tattoo artists pages we follow (we are both heavily tattooed and involved with the tattoo industry).

AIBU To wish Nicola Sturgeon could be Pm? Love her, the only genuine one out there trying too make the world a better place

AIBU to hate greg wallace? I find him patronising lame and annoying. the BBC seem to pick him for alot of stuff I want to watch and do watch but he really spoils it. Just stop with the st jokes and utter amazement at basic things.
Mumsnet OP said:
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with my chav neighbours and their ugly fast growing not native trees.

Aibu to think that there should be a residential law saying only native tall trees should be allowed? This would be much better for the environment also

I live in a key marginal seat, so getting a lot of crap from the Tories and their propaganda. they felt the need to put the same leaflet through my door and under my windscreen wiper. The wiper was already fragile and had been taped back together but this has messed it up.

Doesn't help that the leaflet was a load of crap, taking about this torie guy a poses fracking even though the party has massively supported it and improving rail even though the nearest train station is 15 miles away!
Disclaimer: I only looked at Mumsnet in order to research this post because I'm very bored. I wouldn't usually be seen dead there and I'm never going back.

God, you go to overtake dawdling fkwitt and dawdling fkwitt decides they have got bored of dawdling and fancies speeding up leaving you on the wrong side of the road with nowhere to go.

They are saying it was the fault of the overtaking driver ? you overtake based on the speed the car you want to overtake is doing, not faster, just sounds like the petulant actions of a tt.

People dont like being overtaken, it is amazing how many times you get flashed having made a perfectly good, safe overtake, I had an RX8 driver accelerate whilst overtaking but luckily, an RX8 in the wrong gear is no match for a tweaked Saab but even so, whatever you are in, car performance these days is such that you have to have something really quick to complete and overtake even a diesel hatch if the driver accelerates.

This is exactly why i love my mr2 turbo.

Nice open B road in Essex. A bh decided to accelerate in her Audi Q whatever as I moved out. I sailed past and looked at her like WTF are you doing? This prompted her to let off. Some women drivers just want to own the road. Bints.

Crazy - especially the people saying she has done nothing wrong.

Perhaps somebody with a mumsnet account should post this section of highway code in the thread:

168
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

I had a similar incident with a young bint over 10 years ago. I was overtaking her on a clear A road with nothing coming the other way or a junction in sight. Her way of trying to stop me overtaking was to drift across her lane and squeeze me into the verge mid overtake as I was parallel to her, grass and dust was flying. I did however slow up at a subsequent tight bend, put my hazards on and come to a halt just as the double solid lines started, so the following car had to come to a halt behind me. I politely got out of my car and enquired nicely what they were playing at, it was at this point I realised it was a young girl, who for some reason was now crying and mumbling about not letting me overtake. A 4x4 pulled up behind her and offered his details as he'd observed the whole manoeuvre from behind me. It was deliberate, make no mistake, my only regret was not reporting her for dangerous driving.

I might have made the bit up about being polite and nice, I had my son in the passenger seat of a convertible TVR At the time and was a little angry with whom ever was driving the car. had it been a bloke driving he would have come out of his car without me having to open the door to have the chat.....

Just to pick a random one there - she 'dates a lot of younger guys', yet has a 'darling husband'?

I hope someone reports it to the police. They must know the OPs username and mumsnet will be able to supply an IP address to the police to prosecute.

Shame, I do hope that it's because it's now Queens evidence.

And if not I hope the website owners get charged accordingly with hiding destroying evidence.

He actually makes a reasonable point but then that doesn't suit those who love to get all worked up. I'm sure the thread does have some idiotic replies, in which case it's no different to any post on PH. Most forums have idiots and PH is not an exception to this.

Reasonable point, spell this reasonable point out because I've totally missed it.
I was/am not worked up just people with no common sense seem to be on the increase.

That the person overtaking bears some responsibility for the incident too. When two idiots meet bad things happen.

True, until the knob being overtaken decides to speed up to prolong the overtake.
That's when its all on the person being overtaken

Does the driver overtaking automatically lose the use of their brake pedal then?

No, but if you have a complete p***k that you are overtaking, they may also brake to match you.

Safest to get past a lunatic driver like that.

ETA - and I think the Highway code advises the person being overtaken to slow down.

And that's how you end up in a head on

The first to hit the brakes will easily slow down before the other.

This has been done to death on the advanced driving forum. Yes it's retarded of the overtakee to accelerate, but just as retarded for the overtaker to press on if it's unsafe. Regardless of face saving or lesson teaching, drop back in behind if it becomes dangerous.

God alone knows what happened here - only thing that can be said for sure is that the op contributed towards it.
