Certainly not a good choice.
A Mercedes Benz SL55/65 AMG would have been a better choice. prices ranging from 12k to 35k and with the extra cash left over some serious tuning could be done by CKS performance which will result in these cars doing somewhere near 220mph

or buy a Corvette and then get Ed China (seeing as he doesn't charge for labour <grin>) to drop one of these in

How about delimiting an m5 or rs6 I thought they could crack 200 in theory?

Video didn't work here for me - had to go to the PH TV section instead.

Only 10% over budget as well!

Well quite.

I think the title should be updated to a less catchy - VIDEO: PH Classifieds Challenge - Over 200mph For £54K.

MKIV Supra would be ideal for this. Pick up a good running auto twin turbo for £5k, fit a 6 speed diff and now it is geared for 220+mph.

Spend the remaining £45k (ish) tuning it to circa 1000hp with an aftermarket auto gearbox, and an easy 200mph.

£13495 - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

I've found talk of DMS remapping and delimiting E60 M5's for £1600 or so. I take with a pinch of salt the power gains, but the delimit I believe.

Not many std cars can hit 200 GPS.
Even fewer in this country legally.
All of them super exotic, and way more than £50k

First poster got it right imho.

Huge engines with great potential. Delimited, they should do 200mph easily.

Depends what you mean by "std". The E60 M5s we are talking about have a 155mph limiter, so removing that is turning it into a non standard car, but it's not a mechanical change of any sort.

The E60+ M5's use GPS for their speedo by the way.

Remapping isn't usually a mechanical change either.
