Disabled bay abuser confronted.

More that they would be an arrogant t**t who thinks they can park in a disabled spot without a badge.
Gotta love the reserve classism and envy on PH.The vast vast majority of all 'arrogant' (by which I assume you mean thoughtless and/or selfish) driving that I see is by people in average to cheap cars, but I don't jump to any envy-laden conclusions about drivers of cheap Audis or beaten up Fords.

Can't believe this debate is still going!
By coincidence, I visited my local Tesco with my wife today and thought I'd have a look at the disabled bays to see how many there were and how many were being used. As it turned out, 2 out of perhaps 8 or so that I could see were being used - both vehicles displaying disabled badges.
Sitting in a disabled bay further down was a lovely Porsche Cayenne - no badge on display and a young guy sitting in the driver's seat. Plenty of non-disabled spaces in the vicinity but as others have suggested, perhaps the driver had a valid reason. Fast forward 20 minutes and as we left the store, an elderly woman who had parked next to him (walking with sticks), was in the process of giving him a right telling off, with his response being to laugh and turn his music up. His young wife then appeared, completely ignoring the elderly woman in question and he accelerated rather quickly out of the bay. As tempting as it was, given this thread, I didn't video it or take a pic as that's not really my style.
Nothing more than an observation on my part.
Maybe, just maybe, at some point in future he won't be quite as mobile as he is now and will look back on this as he struggles to get into his car and remember what a selfish pillock he was. I drive a TVR, I don't envy a Porsche in any way (except for a Carrera GT). However, there are certain types of car I can expect to see in this type of situation, or parked across 2 spaces.

Confirmation bias? I would guess that you have social attitudes that cause you to remember the Cayennes and forget the 10 year old Fiestas. However, there are certain types of car I can expect to see in this type of situation, or parked across 2 spaces.
See also UKIPers remembering only brown criminals. (Not saying your bias is anything like as bad as that, but it's the same phenomenon).
Anyway, shouldn't a TVR driver envy anyone who's car made it to the car park without disintegrating / exploding?

Sorry but...I think the point was not that all disabled people should drive a gold Citroen Picasso and not something nice, but that the cars that are seen abusing the disabled bays are typically (but not always) premium model SUV's, I suspect there may be a correlation between the mindset that enables someone to afford one, i.e. being successful and bend the odd rule here and there, a sweeping generalisation perhaps but I suspect there is some truth in it, also those types of cars do tend to be quite big/aggressive looking so perhaps that has a bearing on it at well.
I am not saying everyone who buys a premium SUV is an Alpha Male, go getting borderline Psychopath, they just arent, but that type of person does gravitate to that type of vehicle, they don't go for Hyundai Superminis or stuff like that.

To a car park. Pah, I get upset when I see someone making it to the end of our road.
If it looks like playing up, you could always set fire to it or drop a bomb on it, as a preemptive strike.
I'm already smacking my 6 week old son so as to preempt any naughty behaviour down the line. Nip it in the bud. A bit like headbutting a disabled guy 4 times just in case he was about to steady himself, put all his weight on one of his two walking aids and hit you

If we (the disabled) all had one of these, it would soon stop all this trouble about who parks in disabled bays and petty jealousy.
I nearly got knocked over in Wythenshawe centre by one of those when I was a kid, that would have been an irony if I had ended up disabled having been mown down by one, it was a massive fat man driving it who wasn't very pleased at me getting in the way and seemed unmoved by nearly running me over. There may be a certain amount of nostalgia for an unlikely icon of a bygone era but damn, they cannot have done much for a disabled persons self respect, that said, being mobile is the main thing, I have had a go of a couple of mobility scooters as a couple of mates have them and they are quite pleasant to use, the freedom my mates have with them is amazing.

I regularly park in parent and child spaces. I have no kids, and never have children with me. If that makes me selfish I don't care. I fail to see how having a child means you have to park closer to the supermarket, or need a bigger space. it's just a marketing gimmick for self entitled parents.
I have had a comment once from a women with a toddler - "oh it's the man with the invisible child". Her husband apologised to me. And they started having a row when I walked into the shop.
If someone started speaking to me like the bloke with the camera, I wouldn't be so nice. I think the bloke was well within his right to give the idiot a crack. He was clearly being aggressive - I'd say the bloke got out of his car to speak to the irrational man and then had to take action to defend himself! He was in fear of violence from the man. That would be my defence if I was charged - and it would work.
Edit - just realised the bloke is disabled. So I wouldn't hit him. If he was just an able bodied gob ste I would have no qualms though.
Wellard! I have had a comment once from a women with a toddler - "oh it's the man with the invisible child". Her husband apologised to me. And they started having a row when I walked into the shop.
