Why on earth would you want to put your car in front of an accelerating truck?
Why on earth would you accelerate when you can see the car wants to come in? Neither of them cover themselves in glory, CRV driver was a dick, but the truck could easily have backed off.

You're daft if you think that was anything other than the Honda driver's fault. By the time he's indicating, he's already run out of road, and when he moves across, it's across the solid white line.

I know the HGV driver doesn't back off, but there's accommodating people with a bit of courtesy, and then there's braking hard to let in a long car and caravan combo that can easily abort.

The only thing that surprised me the first time was the HGV driver not using the horn as it develops.

At the end of the day, people can drive into you if they really want, and if you think that should mean 50/50, god help us all.
I disagree. I'm pretty sure that we are bound by law to avoid contributing to accidents where we reasonably can, even when someone else is at fault for creating the hazard.

Therefore both at fault. Besides, the trucker has no idea why the caravan is trying to join late. Everyone needs to start showing a bit more tolerance, needs to stop assuming that everyone else is trying to get one over on them and needs to stop pretending it even matters if they do.

Chill out.

^ This.

But this is PH where it's the done thing is to hate HGVs, hence the stupid clueless replies from the sheeple.

IMO the HGV driver is nothing short of a cock. You can clearly see the CRV is stranded in the wrong lane for one reason or another but is clearly showing its intentions. Whether its down to his ineptitude, being unfamiliar to the area or the roadworks and single lanes where there would be 2/3 or 4, the Honda driver was desperate for someone to let him in. Yes, the final move from the CRV driver was one of the most ridiculous stubborn attempts at barging in ever seen. He should have held back and slotted in behind, but the truck driver drove into the side of the CRV knowing what he was doing and took no evasive action. Hardly a professional attitude to have? If someone worked for me did that I would sack them, not because of the damage or having an accident, but being overly aggressive and showing no respect for other road users.
No sympathy for the CRV driver. If you can't get into the lane you want without forcing someone to slow down, then you go with the flow and get back on course at the next exit. No need for desperation.

He hasn't contributed to any accident. He maintained his line and position in the queue and legally did nothing wrong. The fact that someone else drove into the side of him is not his fault. CRV driver should be done for DD and banned for life.

That junction where the M5 splits off is still down to 1 lane now, the queue starts about 3 miles back daily, mostly caused by people pushing in like this, it's quicker to go down to the next junction and loop back round to get on the M5, caravan would have probably ended up in front of the truck anyway staying where he was.

This option would have been the better course. I have found myself at the mercy of poor planning, my self or lane marking for roadworks etc. and not familiar with local roads, suck it up and crack on to the next junction. The next junction would have allowed him onto the same road.

CRV is clearly in front of him, as can been seen by that fact that he is sideway across the bumper at the end

For me, it is the last minute brigade who try to dive into a left hand off slip, this makes other drivers brake and slows and compresses the left hand lane unexpectedly. This may have contributed here ?
Look a few cars ahead and you will see a white mini van ? Doing this too.
Mr caravan will have had plenty of notice to get in the correct lane, including the White lines.

Only because he drove into the front corner of the truck which then slewed it round when it didn't yield. Truck was on the carriageway and correctly positioned in the lane as it should be. CRV was on the verge, chevrons and rapidly heading towards the armco.

CRV driver was stupid, shouldn't have been there

Truck driver crashed deliberatly 'cos i'm in the right'
In short, this is what I see too
If you can see an accident is about to happen, but you can do something to avoid it, you should.
Otherwise you're not driving with due care
In so many ways we all back off a bit sometimes to keep the roads safe. It should be automatic.

Why was the CRV driver trying to get in there and not way further back? That is a pretty well signed junction, it doesn't come up on you late or by much of a surprise.

Granted, the HGV driver was a bit of a tt, he could have let it go. But the CRV driver is an entitled prick, doesn't join the queue correctly, doesn't back off when someone isn't willing to let him in, won't move the next junction and find an alternate route. Bad driver and shouldn't be on the road. Truck driver needs to be slapped as well.

I'm sick of these self centered tts who won't que and think they can push in at the last few yards before their junction the truck driver could have given way maybe but the tt hopefully has lost his no claims and people seeing this video might think twice before driving as selfishly themselves.

Absolutely, a little consideration would have gone a long way , the CRV driver was having to almost stop in a live lane of the motorway

Totally avoidable , having a camera fitted seems to mean you can drive like a dick as long as you are in the right
CRV driver was NOT forced to stop in a live lane - he could have done what I do in circumstances like that - realise I am trying to leave too late, continue to next exit or beyond using an alternative route. Deciding to do things late or trying to avoid standing traffic isn't an excuse for dangerous drving.

Honda driver clearly taking the piss and not wanting to wait, or realising at the last minute.

Now, if you watch it again the Renault in front of the truck moves right over to the left of the lane. My take on it is that effectively he wasn't visible to the Honda due to being so far out of mirror range so actually Honda man thought it a bigger gap than it was...

Both are dicks, but the HGV deliberately crashed into him. Clear as day on the video.

Seriously, there are people on here that will deliberately hit another road user - regardless of whether in the right or wrong - simply because its their "right of way"?

No wonder driving standards are off down the stter when simply giving someone a few feet of space is too much to ask.

Yes the CRV driver did wrong, but could have been avoided by the tttish behaviour of the truck driver.

I doubt theres 1 driver on here that while driving an unfamiliar route, hasnt thought " Bugger, theres my turn off", stuck their indicator on and hoped someone will let them in.

I'd be surprised if that did not go 50/50. Both seem determined to make their 'point'. And indeed the point was well and truly made.

The M6 didn't look that busy, but what do you reckon, at least an hours delay on those following? Presumably a crew have to come and move the sign and then the white skip has to be shoved off on to the hard shoulder. OK, maybe two hours delay.

Proper HGV this time. You can clearly see the height difference.

It is not a HGV in the caravan crash clip.

CR-V driver is a numpty.
HGV driver is a selfish bugger as 99% of them seem to be.

If I was stuck in the queue that inevitably caused I'd be fking livid that I was delayed as a result of two carrot munchers being so dickish. Completely avoidable and would have cost the HGV driver all of 5 seconds to let the CR-V in.
