Ultimately the car driver is responsible for safely entering another lane so, when it comes down to it, he's in the wrong.

Tell them to get to the back of the queue, but sometimes the queue isn't always obvious until it's well established, by that time you're having to push in somewhere... are you really suggesting he should be sent to the back of the queue, i.e. reverse back up the motorway?

FWIW, if I was the truck driver, I'd have let him in and no problems.. if I was the caravan driver and it had gotten that late in the junction, I'd have continued on to the next avaialble exit and sorted myself out there.

Some combination of fkwittery within Worcestershire's authorities has led to the A435 out of Redditch suffering from two separate 2-into-1 lane closures inside a mile this week, causing what should be an 8 minute journey to last for 53 minutes (today).

There were the usual suspects of people wanting to merge waaaaay too early, those who felt it their job to straddle both lanes to stop people from passing them, those who seemed to understand how to merge in turn, and those who refused to let anyone in.

Owing to the fact that the first lane closure was the inside lane, and the second the outside lane, I had opportunity to let people into my lane in the first case and "negotiate" for a place in the second case, which let me see the very best and worst of people.

Who's to blame in the video? Both, equally. Both should be sanctioned in some way, and damages paid for by their own insurance.

Er, if you miss your junction you just carry on to the next one not stop in live traffic and force your way into a gap that isn't there.
Assuming...

a) the next junction has an off ramp
b) is in the same county
c) he knows where he's going because, let's face it, he tows a caravan and wears Pringle jumpers, so he probably votes for UKIP, has early dementia and didn't fork out for a sat nag upgrade.
None of those are even remotely close to being suitable reasons for what is at least undue care and attention. I've done it loads of times because I've had other things on my mind, I occasionally fk up the A2/A249 junction and that's a 10 mile detour every time that I do it. Do you know what I do every time? Call myself a dhead and carry on to the next junction.
This.
I've done similar before where I've missed the back of the queue but you look for a gap and if you don't find one you have to "go round".
Hell I've even screwed up and taken the M6 toll by accident before. Did I swerve across two lanes to exit? Did I force my way in? Did I reverse up the motorway?

No I sucked it up. Paid the toll and got on with my life.

At the end of it all Mr pink top drove into the side of the truck expecting it to move. There was never any gap to close in the first place.

The caravan driver is a bit of a tw*t for trying to cut in, and worse for keeping coming even when its clear the lorry driver is making things difficult for him. But morally, I'd say the lorry driver was at fault, my reading is that he just thought he'd have an accident so as to have an excuse to get angry about something. any normal person might have had a bit of a grumble about having to let someone in, or at worst made some sort of hand gesture, but instead the lorry driver just ploughed on. I didn't see any real effort to avoid the accident, on the contrary in fact.

So the caravan driver is a bit of an old twoncker and probably technically in the wrong, albeit simply by making a mistake that we all do from time to time. But the lorry driver is just a complete nozzle looking for an excuse to burst a stomach ulcer.

You might, but Mr. Pringle didn't. So, would you have rammed him in the same way the lorry driver did? Because that's the stupidest part about this. The CRV was in the wrong. The lorry driver was a c*nt.

Yes. I'm not examining the behaviour of the car/caravan as like the van ahead theyve both decided that for whatever reason they need to get in the left lane. They could have any number of reasons for being in that position.

The poll is what do you do about it when you can see it happening in front of you

I might have let a car in because it could be safely out of lane 1 quite quickly but in this case the caravan would have been hanging out in the traffic for long enough to spark a much bigger accident. CRV should have accepted that he had missed his chance to get off at this junction and carried on. I have made a similar mistake of not merging early enough and just accepted the loss of time rather than dive across chevrons and put others at risk.

If this was a pub fight CRV clearly kicked it all off when he should have walked away. HGV could have taken avoiding action and hit someone else or street furniture while CRV trundled off into the distance.

Id just let them in. Jeez, it makes no real difference to me and avoids the free flowing lane to the right being blocked.

When I reach my destination will I even remember the event? No. It really is that inconsequential.

I'd just chalk it up to some people make mistakes / are rude.
It's really odd, the last year or so I've just developed a laissez-faire attitude to other people's mistakes. It happens, it's part of life and I honestly have better and more important things to worry about. People can be dheads undoubtedly but few deliberately set out in the morning with the express intent of being the world's worst driver, I'm quite chuffed that I seem to have reached a point in life where I just don't care if other people make a mistake, it happens.

this to me seems very similar to those militant cyclist videos where the cyclist seems to look to start a fight. except this one ended with the lorry hitting the car. Any normal person would have stopped and not caused a crash just because the other driver was in the wrong.

If they looked like they were going to crash their fist into my face or stab me or other similar nasty painful violence if I complained, I'd let them get on with it.

As someone mentioned earlier, if there's a dhead driver near you, would you prefer they were in front of you so you could control the distance between you and them, or that they were behind you where you can't control the distance?

Let them in. Meh, doesn't matter. All over and done with in 5-6 seconds and I can continue on with my day.

Tough to watch. AT least the crash the old fella caused was not a pile up and there was no loss of life.

I would just let him in, these things happen and it really isn't worth worrying about in the slightest.

The lorry driver is a , end of.

What are you trying to prove acting like a big man in your truck cab whilst barely earning more than minimum wage.

The caravan driver left himself short so the response to that is to essentially cause an accident rather than just pull back and let the driver merge?

Lives are lost on the roads every fking year due to stty stunts like these.

wker.

I think in this situation, the caravanner had made a genuine mistake in missing the exit. He isn't your usual arrogant German saloon driver who thinks it's OK to jump in at the head of the queue - so I'd 'Let the guy in but no worries it happens' - but if it was the aforementioned, then I'd close the gap but avoid the prang.
