M5 signs start before there but that is the first of the clear lane signage it is signed well before then too.
I'm sure they start 8 or 9 miles before (or about 20+ in relation to services). Still doesn't mean the hazard warning lines start then, which is what you claimed.
I said lane signage which we have now with the help of google established are 2.44 kilometres.

My original guess was a few miles as I knew it was before J9.

I am always happy to be corrected on facts, but things like stating an indicator means danger or intention is a stray opinion it is just somebody saying I want to go that way.

fking hell, don't reply to my posts if you're not going to read them! I said earlier that the CRV slowed before the gap opened in front of the scenic. Gap then opens, CRV can't accelerate in time to make it, aims to slot behind the scenic (bad choice), scenic realises this and proceeds, truck driver doesn't like it and tries to discourage CRV, CRV doesn't notice/care.
Thee CRV had more than enough speed to go for the gap in front of that scenic
No he didn't! Scenic and CRV both slowed about the same time, so they stayed side by side. Scenic started to do the courteous thing and then noticed the CRV had already slowed, so they remained about level. At this point, as I've said a few times already (possibly 'several' times), changing velocity while towing a large mass is not easy with an engine in the lines of a CRV. Remember, at this point the CRV driver didn't think going over the solid white lines and chevrons was a possibility, he was still thinking he could force his way in before the end of the slip separation lines.

Me too on that score, I'm always interested in learning.

The indicator is information that you absorb and process in order to decide on the appropriate action. Defensive driving would be to assume that the other road user (any other road user) is an idiot and is trying to kill you.

There are many instances when an indicator is nothing at all, it's been forgotten about and hasn't been cancelled, but it is prudent to still assume the worst and drive accordingly.

The way I see it this is analagous to driving through town and having some idiot step out in front of you, but with time to brake to a halt, but continuing anyway, ignoring the bang as their skull hits your bonnet and then swearing at them for being in the way! The caravan guy was either on holiday and a bit lost or aggressively trying to queue jump, but whatever his motive was, the lorry driver had every chance in the world to avoid an accident and chose to accelerate into it rather than just let the guy in and arrive at his destination 0.2 seconds later - he is an utter prick in my alcohol fuelled opinion!

Lorry driver was in the wrong and should have let him, however it's good to see one of those cocks that just indicate and bully their way into a lane get their comeuppance too.
