Is that some kind of 'let me remove the outer glass of my rear lights to make them look different' deal? The V10 is a genuine supercar secret. 333 built in total, just 33 imported into the UK, 110kgs lighter than a "cooking" V10, 560 gee gees (more than a V10 +), ceramic brakes, carbon everything, some trick aero bits (rear spoiler, front splitter, dive planes, diffuser), bucket seats, non mag, lowered, stiffened suspension.
Gerard Lopez has shown that considerable wealth doesn't necessarily imbue you with large amounts of taste or indeed common sense, as he bought one of the Uk cars and then got Ian Lichfield to bolt turbos onto it. Tosser.
I'm torn between a UK RHD R8 V10 GT and a LHD 430 Scuderia. No doubt the Scuderia will cost a bit more initially and then continue to increase in value over the next 5-10 years. The Audi I ain't so sure about .....

Disagree re the practicality as my wife and I did a two week holiday to the Swiss Alps and Italian Lakes and had plenty of room. Bought the fitted luggage from Roadster Bags in Germany which makes the most of the boot and space behind the seats and these are about a fifth of the cost of the equivalent Audi fitted luggage. Surprising how much you can also get behind and under the seats.
Only saw one other R8 in two weeks on the trip but hundreds of Porsche 911's and it attracted interest everywhere it went even though it is now an eight year old design. I was amazed how many people took photos of it.
And a revelation up and down the mountain passes.
Have read in two magazines now including Classic Cars that early R8's will become a classic so mines a definite keeper !

I could be tempted by this very car but wish it was easier to find definitive answers on reliability/running costs for these things. I know mpg and the basics, but:
1) what goes wrong in the v10? (I know about mag ride)
2) once a car is out of Audi warranty can it be inspected and put back in like a Porsche? (And what would that cost?)
I know about r8talk.com but even there you won't find a clear buyers guide (or I cant). Any owners about?
