lol! hehe

I think you make a very good point in remarkably few words. My father had one of these from new for a few years in the 70's. He has since been fortunate enough to own many many "supercars" including 959's, EB 110 and various Ferrari's and Lambourghini's.

He never ever rated the Daytona - used to grumble that "it drove like a truck"....

Lovely to look at it, not so lovely to use

Love the Petrolicious films, and watching this one, the thing that strikes me is don't UK roads look st!

Potholes everywhere, lumpy, bloody awful compared to the American one.

And as has been said, the gloves were an interesting choice.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the film. I enjoyed making it although it was really cold on the day (barely above freezing) hence the gloves.

I was never a fan. There was one of these parked outside a local indian restaurant for many years.
I'm happy that they exist and are being enjoyed but they leave me cold, I can't see the appeal.

I get the intended quip but as the Daytona pre-dates the SD1 it should be the SD1 reminds me of a Daytona !

Anyway what a car to be given, looking back at my fathers motoring relics I cannot name one car that I would have wanted, there's a new thread to start 'the car's you wish your father had kept'

Even in yellow it looks mega:

Pay double money for a Spider:

Hard to beat tail guns.

Pair of Daytonas rumbling in at a 2009 GW brekkie.

Period V12 rival was a full four seater.

That is a fine automobile, no question. smile

About 10 years ago there was a convertible for sale in a showroom in Redhill, Nottingham at around 100k if I remember - I never got close enough to see if it was a genuine one, a chopped coupe or a 'Miami Vice special', at that price even 10 years ago it wouldn't have been the real thing I guess?

"Even" in yellow? ESPECIALLY in yellow. In terms of looks, this car is sexy. Like the hot girl you want to take to a disco.

Haha this car is my wallpaper as shot back in 2006 at Goodwood during the Supercar breakfast. Love the styling but would need to modify the brakes, steering and cooling for proper GT tours.
Never had an issue with the brakes, steering yes I have modified mine as discussed in the video. As to cooling I've sat in the traffic at the Le Mans Classic when it's 90c and not had an issue with cooling. If anything the reverse is true with 18l of oil it takes a long time to warm up, and needs at least 20 miles of running before everything is up to temperature.

A very cheeky question. But does the house he inherited match the car ? It does ?....... Well, I'm sorry. I'll just have to end it all then !!

One of the ugliest and most over-rated Ferraris ever. It is a rover sd1 with a prancing horse on. Give me a 330 or 275 any day instead

Only thing Dad has passed to me is the car (which I accept 'only' is relative). Have my own career and brought my own house from that (with a mortgage obviously).

The Daytona was the first Ferrari Dad brought (he's had around 30 at last count) but by no means the most valuable. It was always my favourite though. In fact when he passed it over to me 11 years ago it was the least valuable he had at the time.

Wonderful video! Ive only driven the Daytona on two or three occasions but I remember it being a heavy old lump with that steering so power steering sounds like a sensible addition for every day use.

Just marvellous to see the car being used as regular transport yet obviously cared for and cherished. Well done that man!!

Other than the Daytona in approximate order of acquisition

365GT4 2+2 supplanted the Daytona as the daily driver
Mondial 8 (first one brought new and sold within a few months because Dad hated it so much)
275GTB 2 Cam shortnose
275GTB/4
308GTS QV
Testarossa
365GTC/4 RHD light blue
330GTC burgundy
250SWB (RHD (chassis 3605GT for those that track these things, owned for 11 years and about 15,000 miles)
365GTC
456 GT
456 GTA
275GTS sold because he could not get comfortable behind wheel
330GTS black - much better car to drive than the 275GTS
456 M
550 Maranello Silver
330GTS Burgundy (sold the back one and immediately brought this one which ran better)
575 Superamerica (Manual regrets selling it now with current market for late model manual Ferraris)
456M GTA
365GTC/4 LHD (possibly Dad's favourite of all racked up 40,000 miles in it)
599 GTB (great car but far to big to use in Britain)
575 HGTC (turns out one of only 5 Maranellos delivered with the HGTC pack)
250 Lusso (brought after he sold the SWB but never liked it to drive that much)
330 GTS (brought as a running restoration project started as rosso corsa but changed to black)
365GTC/4 RHD (brought because he was doing to many miles in the LHD one still owns it)
California
550 Maranello LHD
Daytona Spyder conversion still owns (has EZ electric power steering fitted)
575 F1 (still owns)

I believe the term is WOW.

275 is my all time favourite, I've watched in awe as the values have accelerated away from me!

The values of all the '60s stuff have gone stratospheric.
