Other than the Daytona in approximate order of acquisition

365GT4 2+2 supplanted the Daytona as the daily driver
Mondial 8 (first one brought new and sold within a few months because Dad hated it so much)
275GTB 2 Cam shortnose
275GTB/4
308GTS QV
Testarossa
365GTC/4 RHD light blue
330GTC burgundy
250SWB (RHD (chassis 3605GT for those that track these things, owned for 11 years and about 15,000 miles)
365GTC
456 GT
456 GTA
275GTS sold because he could not get comfortable behind wheel
330GTS black - much better car to drive than the 275GTS
456 M
550 Maranello Silver
330GTS Burgundy (sold the back one and immediately brought this one which ran better)
575 Superamerica (Manual regrets selling it now with current market for late model manual Ferraris)
456M GTA
365GTC/4 LHD (possibly Dad's favourite of all racked up 40,000 miles in it)
599 GTB (great car but far to big to use in Britain)
575 HGTC (turns out one of only 5 Maranellos delivered with the HGTC pack)
250 Lusso (brought after he sold the SWB but never liked it to drive that much)
330 GTS (brought as a running restoration project started as rosso corsa but changed to black)
365GTC/4 RHD (brought because he was doing to many miles in the LHD one still owns it)
California
550 Maranello LHD
Daytona Spyder conversion still owns (has EZ electric power steering fitted)
575 F1 (still owns)
I believe the term is WOW.

275 is my all time favourite, I've watched in awe as the values have accelerated away from me!

The values of all the '60s stuff have gone stratospheric.
If the father had popped on here and provided an extemporaneous accounting of all those cars, I'd say, "Right. He bought them; he knows all about them."

But for the son to do this... Shows he was truly enthusiastic / paying attention!

Great list. Epic. Thanks for sharing it, complete with juicy comments.

Thanks - one of themes of many Petrolicious videos is the bonding between fathers and sons over cars. I certainly did with my Dad.

They're not one of the most pretty Ferraris...

They're also 25% of a Daytona pricetag.

I doubt you will get one in equivalent condition for 25% of the price of a Daytona. 40-50% is closer. While I get why my Dad loves his one it's a great car for touring, it's just not as exciting a car to drive as the Daytona.

If you look at it like that, a 550 is 25% of that and a far nice thing to look at and drive...

The Daytona is an odd-looking beast in photos, it doesn't have the classical elegance of the older 60s Ferraris (up to and including the original 365), but when you see one in the metal, it all just makes sense. One of the truly great GTs. Re the 550/575, they're fabulous, of course (would have one over a 599 or F12), but their modern Tipo V12 doesn't have the same textured snarl that the old Colombo breathing through Webers does - it's more of a pure howl - and, styling-wise, they look like a big Italian Toyota Supra. A few years ago, they were a brilliant performance bargain on the secondhand market, but prices for manuals have gone silly...

Soundwise there's a lot lost. Today all Ferrari 360s and 458s all sound the same. I've never heard a Daytona or Countach or Ghibli sound the same. They all have their own unique character. The engine allowes it to come out. Love that.

360 sounded reasonably good for a flat-plane-crank V8. It's the 430's Maserati-derived lump that sounds really dull, and the 458's addition of direct injection to what's basically the same engine doesn't help.
