My BMWs aren't exactly dull when running properly either, yet somehow I don't have the limitless forgiveness the Alfisti exhibit!
Didn't mean to have a dig at you cars hehe

When Alfa stopped making RWD cars I thought the three series would be the perfect car for me. Ultimate driving machine, sheer driving pleasure, all that smile

But they are nothing like the Alfas. When I relaxed, the BMW turned into a luxury saloon. It stopped talking, turned into a quiet saloon. The Alfa never stopped communicating. Also the steering, at least in the E30, 36 and 46 was just not as nice. As an executive saloon though the BMW beat the Alfa hands down.

Because of all that, I could put up with the Alfa's problems, a BMW could have let me down just once.

However, even it is far from the 'best' Alfa, it really feels special. Drooping nose styling aside, it's a bloody good looking car in a sea of Germanic blandness.
It's getting boring to repeat this but 'Germanic' and 'German' are not synonymous.

If Germanic things are so boring, why do you speak English? Why not try French or Swahili?

I owned two Alfasuds yonks ago but even now I smile when I remember them; Ferrari-esque driving position, footrest, engine warm up light (when it went out you could floor it ) and FIVE gears in 1980. Wonderful sounding engine, near limitless grip and great brakes . The Golf GTi Mk 1 & 2 which replaced them were models of efficiency but hugely overrated in the case of the Mk1 (no brakes , noisy , terrible seats ) and just a bit worthy in the case of the oh so capable Mk 2.

Never driven an Alfa V6 but heard plenty and have driven several twin cams right back to early Giulietta Spyder which made me feel as if I were in a Sixties film.Sadly no Audrey Hepburn in passenger seat though- balding owner instead .

BMWs- never warmed to any apart from Batmobile CSL, first M3 and the M1 of course .

Not sure what your point is, the word doesn't only refer to languages.
