Audi S1 Quattro onboard: Time For Tea?

Welcome in the weekend with another snippet of crazy European hillclimbing

Just a quick reminder of Group B and one of its most iconic cars. Because they will never stop being incredibly cool, will they? The vid description states this S1 has 572hp and 454lb ft at its disposal. Which is quite a lot. And, of course, one of the best sounds to ever grace motorsport.

This weekend is also the Argentinian WRC so if modern rallying doesn't appeal then you know where to look (and listen)... Enjoy!

Watch the video here.

He's not wrong though.

I'd find that quite frustrating to drive, not that I'd say nolaugh

Ditto!

However, what other cars are there in this class and with similar power don't?

That looks scary. The relationship between steer angle and lat acc is ......rather variable.

Golden age of rally, I watched these going up de Col de Turini, Walter Röhrl at the wheel, spectacular driving, noise, smell.

Nowadays rules make the sport tame and unspectacular, not worth camping out a day to see them fly by.

The Delta and the 205 T16 usually don't, but it is dependent on setup. Having that big boat anchor of a 5-pot sticking out beyond the front wheels is a lot more of an issue than most folks like to admit with the Quattro. Not that it isn't an epic car mind, what a noise! cloud9

Could say that about any handling defficiency though really; better to not have to. Understeer is about the least fun trait to have to work around too.

To put this in context though, I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun to drive an S1laugh

Of course the 205T16 and the Delta S4 usually had a little less power but was far better balanced and therefore much faster.

Unreal sound. Had to smile when he started sliding it about.
