Seems like Febreeze does the same thing (http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/febreeze-liquid-air-freshener-vent-clip-on-damaged-vehicle-interior-c637736.html).TBH I'm surprised - normally these things a basically and alcohol solution of perfume. The alcohol should do anything to plastic, so perhaps they're using acetone instead (which is dumb).
