The reality is the E46 M3 does everything the 6 Series does, but better. That's why you have to spend double the price (still a bargain in my book).
Apart from emit a lovely V8 burble.

Although the engine in the M3 is an absolute peach, I'll agree.

Gents- does this car ever get sold with collapseable rear seats or the opportunity to put a roofeack on.

Cant buy a car that I cant put snowboards in..
Seats are fixed in mine, but I believe a ski hatch was an option. Roof rack - doubtful on mine, but I have a sun roof. Not sure if it would fit on one without.

Problem with ski jatches is that they aren't wide enough for a board.
Could always get the angle grinder out but would rather not...

they aren't fast
0-60 in 4.6 (for the 650i) apparently - that's not fast?
And faster round theTopGear track than a Porsche 997 so doesn't handle either? wink
You're missing the point of the car if you're discussing speed IMO.
Are you talking from experience?

In the early eighties, yes, I'd have to agree.

rofl

I don't think so. We have two of the things. Experience tells me otherwise.

There's no roof rack available to fit the 6-series, but a multi-purpose 'soft rack' will do the job for transporting skis and/or snowboards on its roof. Cheap too.

Oh my...

These cars are definitely an itch I'm going to have to scratch. What's the room in the back like for a 7/8 year old and the mother-in-law on occasion? I'm not tall so tend to have the drivers seat quite far forward anyway. Also, is the boot any good?

If its just on occasion then it will be fine... Both front passengers and drivers are likley to have to adjust the seat slightly especially if you have the seats in a low position.

I've had MIL, FIL and other family in the car before - never had complaints.

If it is for regular use then rear seats not really recommended but occasional use is fine.

Bloke I car share with sometimes has a 645ci covertable on an 04 plate I think (private plate) he's had it from new and its covered 46,000miles. It is in absolute perfect condition and he's had only a single issue (faulty sensor that triggers an airbag warning)

Its a wonderful car, an absolutely lovely V8 barge, great for wafting. As he only uses it as a normal car the running costs are unbelievably minuscule. It has the original discs on the back for example.

Anybody buying one of these to casually waft about in has great taste IMO. A hell of a lot of car for the money!

Magic - cheerssmile

95% of the time it's me on my own taking our son to school, but I do let the OH out now and then, and once every couple of weeks the MiL joins us so the lack of space in the back isn't a huge issue.
