So the engine is doing 38mph per 1000 RPM in top? That seems very high, and the 35 MPG you are showing is a far cry from the 45 you are claiming too.
My e60 is about 32mph / 1000rpm

Thanks.

So you've quoted a different car, with a different MPH per 1000 RPM and not referenced the engine size.

That doesn't help much really.

I know a chap who had the M6, even as a pretty wealthy chap the fuel economy scared him a bit, commute into Manchester gave 12 - 14 MPG he reckons.

You had best re-read my posts then.

Got me looking on auto trader and found this beaut. Low mileage and great condition.

Actually no don't bother, I can't be arsed arguing over MPG.

If it makes you feel better pretend I'm doing 10mpg.

Damn it, I hadn't realised they were this cheap. I'm after a nice convertible for the summer...

How much lower can they go? Surely you couldn't loose much money on one of these beauties?

I've run a 650i convertible for just shy of 2 years. It's a lot of car for not a huge amount of money, and hasn't cost a huge amount to run.

Economy wise, even if I try really hard (ie stick to 70ish on the motorway) I've never got anywhere near 30mpg. Best I've seen on a tank is 27mpg (calculated correctly and largely motorway driving). It's less economical than my previous E39 540i. Not that I could care less - you don't buy a 4.8 V8 for economy.

Sounds great as standard but has anyone changed the exhaust or anything to make it sound even better?

CarAbuser, I'd say the one in the ad is a bit over priced. I had mine up for sale recently but a change of circumstances means the ads are no longer up.

Mine is a 645ci with great spec and only 26,000 miles and I wasn't asking much more than the linked 650. Admittedly the 650 is more desirable but the tax is more expensive which puts people off.

Couldn't stand the looks of these when first out, but they've grown on me. Nice and understated.

It does if you weren't so stupid as to not realise that a 6 series is essentially a 5 series with a different body.

First, i'm not stupid so hold off on the insults pal.

The guy didn't say the engine size or fuel type so it's not possible to compare..

It essentially is.

Not sure about suspension components (likely the same) but they're all the same drivetrain.

I had a 645ci in 2005-6. It was absolutely lovely. A bit point and squirt but comfortable and woofly. I used to get a pretty easy 30-33 mpg but not much higher than that.

I have had it on a list of maybes for ages. A really unusual design that has aged (dare I say it like all Bangle designs have) very well and it looks a lot more than £6000!

Will this help?

Just been outside and taken a pic of the computer. This is after my normal country roads driving to work and back this week.

If you want to pay for the hotel and fuel I will take you to Chantilly near paris this bank holiday. My girlfriend is working and very understanding. (but be warned I'm the driver so that makes me the giver)

You are the one being sarky provoking a reaction when I'm trying to be helpful posting from experience and not what some bloke down the pub said.

Mine does 7-8mpg around town. When I first got it I thought I had a hole in the tank.

Holy smoke. That's another league of poor fuel economy. You'd be cheaper buying, taxing, insuring and servicing a second car.
