People are scared of older big engined cars, hence the prices, thankfully.

The naysayers will tell you it'll blow up before you get it back home and that it costs eleventy squillion pounds to replace the interior light bulb.

You are scared too, that's why you haven't got one.

645's are great engines, do your due diligence and go get one smile
The naysayers will probably have zero first hand knowledge of the car, nor have ever researched the market for that type and size of car.

2006 model in Sapphire Black with black leather - would have preferred beige or red, but the price of this one was far nicer than others I've seen, and the others with beige/red leather all had horrible "sick" coloured wood trim. Full service history (not all BMW though) and with just under 100K on the clock.

The one I've gone for isn't too massive on the whole options side, but does have a head-up display (a feature I loved in the M5), Bluetooth and a CD changer, so I can sort the rest out from there.

First jobs to do when I get it are:

- change the kidneys for some black ones - I've never been a fan of the "thick upper lip" look of the 6er's grilles (and some of the 3ers had the same thing) so hiding them will be first on the list smile

- get a cup holder - amazes me that the cup holder was an optional accessory on a luxury GT car

Then I'm considering:

- an iDrive CIC retrofit, which amongst other things would give me Bluetooth A2DP capability

- a fruitier exhaust, or a silencer delete if such a thing yields nice results on that V8

Picked up my 650i yesterday. Haven't really had much of a chance to drive it in anger yet, but it's very nice, very smooth and the V8 sounds lovely through the tunnels near to home. Just got to decide whether to put a fruitier exhaust on.

I know an eisenmann exhaust would be lovely but most people seem to have good (cheaper) results with a straight-forward resonator delete. I believe you can also add in a pipe connecting the two exhausts to greatly enhance the sound. If you add in an H-piece (straight across) it'll be higher pitched, almost V10esq, while an X-piece will give the classic American V8 noise.
