How badly kerbed can the wheels be on a 2 yr lease going back?

I'm wondering if I should drop £50 x 4 getting my SLK wheels done up rather than risk a bill for a new wheel (as I had on a C Class before)

'Normal' wear & tear is acceptable but I doubt kerbing would be classed as that. I guess it all depends on how bad it is but if you think it is bad enough to need a new wheel I would think the refurb would be cheaper

When I returned my Z4 (albeit on a PCP, not lease), BMW said they would have charged me to refurb any damaged wheels.

Only the lease company can answer that one. But your previous experience says that getting them done would be a good idea.

I read through a mates T&C's for wear and tear, and it was actually quite generous (Ford Fiesta ST).

They had picture examples of what was and wasn't acceptable.

Kerbing was OK, as long as there wasn't chunks missing from the alloy. Scratches were deemed OK.

Does this help?

http://issuu.com/bfwsn67/docs/fwt_2014-15_issuu_bm...

I know it mentions BMW but I would have thought that the BVRLA's standards apply across the industry? I could be wrong though so don't quote me on this!

I'd probably contact your local smart repair type place and see if they'll do you a deal across anything on the whole car?

My local chips away did a repair on an old alloy for £20.. But he was doing another cheap job too.

Not the best way but it'll look right for as long as it needs to.

If it's the 18" AMG sport wheels aren't they diamond cut therefore could be a bit more of a challenge to get them re-furbed at a reasonable cost?

The standard wheels are powdercoated so should be ok to get a standard refurb if it's the non AMG car you have.

Are your lease company part of the BVRLA? You'd be much better asking them for a copy of their actual wear and tear rules than looking at ones that might or might not be the same.

My dream thread has arrived, lol.

I'm an alloy wheel refurbisher, the wife drives a SLK AMG, and we do shed loads of work for lease returns.

Your alloys will be diamond cut, so will need sending away to be remachined. Worth reading your agreement to see if they mention a cost if the alloys are returned damaged, most common amount I hear is £90 per corner.

If you do decide to get them remachined then let me know your location and I'll see if I know anyone.
