Lotus/Evora?
As a daily driver? No thanks, great for a blast, but wouldn't want one as a daily just too harsh and not much in the way or comfort/toys.
All down to personal opinion and how many miles you do mind you, if you only do tiny miles I guess its not that bad!
I think they're remarkably easy daily drivers to be honest. Out of genuine interest, what is harsh about them in contrast to the other cars mentioned and also what toys are missing? As a daily driver? It's obvious by the lack of sales of Lotus that your view is very dominant but I'm not convinced that isn't more down to perception than reality?

I just don't like the look of them, and the interior is not even close to being in the same quality as aston/audi etc...
Personally, I don't like the look, I think it needs a few tweets to make it look less dumpy and the grill makes it look special needs. But the interior is very good and not at all trying to be a generic family car to appeal to the masses. And it certainly drives better than a lot of cars mentioned. But, I've never thought of the Audi interior as being quality. To me it's just the same sort of interior you get in any cheap, generic German car. It wouldn't cross my mind to compare it with something like an Aston interior.
Why not the Gallardo instead of R8?

Fair few folk on the lotus owners club have them as daily drivers and they have as many toys as any of the cars mentioned and from what i have read the ride is very good. Big enough boot for food shop as well. Research I have don't contradicts what has been said.

Plus, it's also getting an auto box for urban folk. Stu

practicality, running/servicing costs. But, I've never thought of the Audi interior as being quality. To me it's just the same sort of interior you get in any cheap, generic German car. It wouldn't cross my mind to compare it with something like an Aston interior.

Audi make quality interiors, no question about it. Yea you don't get as much leather as you do in some of the higher marques but everything is such high quality imo, especially compared to the equal BMW.

As a passenger in an exige I'll point out that it was great it was just buzzing all the time, it was never 'switched off' e.g. like in an R8/Aston you can change dampers depending on how you drive, and I personally think if you're going to spend that much money on a daily driver I really would expect/or buy more than a Lotus. It's obvious by the lack of sales of Lotus that your view is very dominant but I'm not convinced that isn't more down to perception than reality?
God they handle like pretty much nothing else, but their interior quality/tech is not a patch on audi/aston, louts are lightweight stripped out driver focused sportscars - not an accomplished daily in my opinion. Also noise in cabin is considerable in comparison to an R8 so you couldnt really have a comfortable conversation on a phone in an elise/exige - and I doubt an evora is too much better?
My opinion would be R8 V10 or DBS/V12 Vantage 100%. Would not go for a Lotus if I could pick a manual v12 vantage up not in a million years.

Nope, think I just tried to point out 1)only passenger and 2) haven't been in an evora which is meant to be a quicker more practical car. Still not where Id put my money if it was my choice, just my personal opinion - cracking car in a bright blue though!

Fair enough. I'm not understanding the running costs bit. If you're buying a £70k car then running costs aren't exactly important or relevant. It would strike me as madness to be buying a car at that level based on running costs rather than what I actually wanted. Audi make quality interiors, no question about it. Yea you don't get as much leather as you do in some of the higher marques but everything is such high quality imo, especially compared to the equal BMW.
For example, it sounds like you are sold on an R8 but more because it looks cheaper to run than others rather than it being very specifically the car that you want to open your garage door and see every morning.
Spending £70k on something that you'll be sitting in every day where you already think the interior is 'ok', just 'ok' and where the purchase was defined by a lower hourly maintenance charge etc strikes me as completely missing the point of buying a car which isn't just a generic Euro box.

I think Lotus would sell a lot more Evoras if they could get more potential punters to drive one. Thinking it's like an Exige is a huge misconception.
It isn't like an Exige but it's also not on par with a Cayman when it comes to quality of the interior and stuff like that craigjm said:

I'd like to sit in a MY2012 evora and a Cayman. I don't think there will be a big difference. Especially as a lot of the new evora have suade which I think looks stunning. Ergonomics will be better in the pork though.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
