The Evora is nothing like the Exige inside.
I think Lotus would sell a lot more Evoras if they could get more potential punters to drive one. Thinking it's like an Exige is a huge misconception.
I think misconception is precisely why the Evora doesn't sell well as its a great car. I might not like the looks but it's a very useable everyday sportscar and with a very nice interior. But I don't blame the people but rather the company.

The recent Quentin Wilson piece on the E Type and how they ensured the first cars went into the hands of certain people so as to create asperTion amongst us normal folk seems to highlight a strategy that Lotus should have employed. They should be ensuring that their product is being parked at all the places you expect to see such products etc. If people were seeing them parked up in obvious places in London for example it probably wouldn't take long to start changing the current perception that they are a car for the more extreme owner etc.

It isn't like an Exige but it's also not on par with a Cayman when it comes to quality of the interior and stuff like that
There's a huge difference between the Exige, which is minimalist, and the Cayman, which although a sports car is generic German exec saloon car inside.

Only because I own one, I would recommend a Bentley Conti' GT. Definitely a smile a mile.

You mentioned how much to maintain a Aston...... http://www.amwfixedpriceservicing.com/
Mine is in there now for a 7 year but as the spark plugs were done last year its a little less than what it says.
I was running a Porsche C4S before the Aston, so far the Aston has proved cheaper but then im doing less mileage in it i have to admit.

This would be my first choice, it looks like the MC Stradale but has the Auto Box so it's better suited to everyday stop start driving.

But I have to say my 4.7 with MC Shift was fantastic, drive both & take your pick.

My Alternative choice would be one of these:

Great Handling a future classic?

Or one of these:

More mainstream choice:

All are good cars in there own way you just need to pick three that suit your needs best then test drive them to see what suits you best.

Vantage or Vantage S
yea, considered them but few things put me off, they're quite slow and depreciate more than R8's. Think a 2012 Vantage S would lose me a lot more than a 2011 V10 manual R8. Still think the aston looks really special but would choose the R8 probably.
You're just about in to manual V12 Vantage money
Those are MUCH rarer and holding value well

That gt3 is a good shout.

If prices are still going mental for anything Porsche with gt3 after it you are unlikely to lose muc in depreciation and possibly make some.

My pick - always been a goal to own an aston, and at your budget I would opt for a v12 vantage over a DBS, although the DBS will be far more compliant in town etc.
http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... Here is the red one..

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... Grey (hammerhead silver) slightly above budget but I'm sure could be haggled down.

r8 v10 manual http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... Be careful when looking - you'd be surprised at the amount of R8s that don't have cruise control (sounds odd but if you're in areas with loads of average speed cameras it makes sense to have them!

I noticed that, especially on V8 cars. It's a £500 retrofit as well. It's a shame more weren't ordered with bucket seats, makes the car a lot more special. Looked at both them aston's, both lovely.

I like the fact the chap has had the wheel retrimmed in alcantara - think it looks much better!

red aston is local to me - dealers are good chaps. If you're a driver you'll prefer the buckets as those that drove the comfort seats said they don't offer enough lateral support.

Nice decision to have to make, I think a lot of the R8s are poorly specced, Id love carbon blades and carbon engine bay but not many have it, along with carbon interior, bucket seats (wish they did them in cream). Theres all sorts of missing things on cars.... How do you feel about spiders though? Seems to be quite a few round your budget as well?

How much haggle room is there on a lot of the cars mentioned in this price bracket? if a cars up a £70k, how much would you expect to get off or does it simply depend from dealer to dealer? Was offered £3k off a facelift R8 the other day, was up £83k but was still too much.

agree about the R8's, must have's for me are carbon blades, carbon interior trim, B&0, heated seats. V10's get a lot more standard spec the V8's.

Not into spider's, not a roof down kind of person.

Impossible to say. Depends who you're dealing with and how much they're willing to reduce their mark up to sell the car

That Audi advert states the car is the "owners own car", who would have thought?

Don't know what advert you are referring but if it's a dealers that makes sense. It's nit just stock it's his personal car, what's the problem.?

As in owner of the dealers own car.

He feels they don't, and said so. You feel they do, and have said so. A difference of opinion down to different body sizes and heights. I'm almost in shock. Almost.

Also true, but it's a better drivers car than the Porsche is. Depends where your priorities are.
