You're the same as me - even though I only drive a manky Avensis atm I'll usually go to the very furthest corner, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend. However, if I saw a car such as yours (I'm assuming the ST!) up there, I would likely park next to it. Reason being, the owner clearly cares about it as much as I do. smile Although given my car I can see how that wouldn't be apparent hehe

A couple of years back, I was in my Discovery with rock sliders under the cills,

I parked in a supermarket carpark waiting for the wife, a feral family parked next to be in a people carrier, one of the little darlings flung the door into the side of mine, but it hit the steel tubing instead, Mrs feral owner started telling me I shouldnt be allowed to have armour on my car as it had bent the bottom of her door, laugh

normally I happily park it anywhere, its covered in scratches, in fact I usually come back to it, and there ia space either side of it.

I'm glad my 4x4 has rock and tree sliders, also a previous owner has fitted the side door rubbing protectors, but 6 inches higher than usual. Right at where the door would get hit by another. biggrin

I'm also guilty of lifting it to off road height when parking.

Means's that when people swing their doors open, they hit the door protectors/metal sliders and damages their car.

Leaving a nice layer of mud and grime over it also helps to keep the great unwashed away from it.

I feel for those who look after their car, but it gets covered in dents and keyed by helmet's who don't care.

Ocado for the win.
Or Asda online if I'm not trying to show off.

Someone has managed to dent the curved bit just below the window on the rear door. I'm guessing trolley handle, or the 4 x 4 rear door sharp cornerybit* where the wheel arch curve ends and the upright bit starts..

I know when someone's not been careful with my car because it's cleaner and therefore their clothes are now dirty with general road grime. biggrin

I lightly knocked a parked car's mirror not long ago while buggering about moving over for an ambulance, I stopped and checked for damage (wasn't any), people passing by gave me some strange looks for checking for damage, maybe it was because they rightly thought I was an idiot but I think it was because I checked for damage.

I'm lucky that my car has never been noticeably damaged in a car park. When I used to park on the road in a rough area I lost a couple of mirrors without notes left, and lost a windscreeen once but that was an unpleasant gentleman who "threw a brick at someone but missed" rather than a crap driver.

My old Audi was such a magnet for parking scrapes I was starting to think people were ramming it on purpose. No way people didn't know they'd done some of the scrapes either. bds. I wish there was a cheap/easy way to fit 360 degree 24/7 cctv - would love to see their faces when the bill for repairs landed on their mat.

I recently returned my 3 yr old, 60,000 mile company car (F30 320d), and it had all four bumper corners scuffed, three 2p sized parking dinks, and scratches on the boot lid and the A pillar. None of it, not a single bit of it, was done by me (or Mrs Limpet).

I've had my F30 Touring 6 weeks, and its done 3k. It already has a bumper mark, again not done by me.

All reinforces my long standing belief that if you have a car you really care about, leaving it anywhere in modern Britain is a really bad idea.

It was long term parking; they didn't expect me to find the damage they had done.

It was actually a member of staff where we were staying; because I'd "taken his usual space"

I've had my car 8 weeks so far I've collected:

1 10 inch crack in the windscreen
2 chunk out of the head lamp wash cover
3 Scratches in the rear bumper
4 curbed the wheel NSF
5 Grazed the front splitter/PU

I'm gutted (OK I did one or two of them!)

This was mine, parked outside my house. I live opposite a school in quite a high class area, so the standard heard of Range Rovers being driven by housewives who care little for other peoples things, I usually park on my driveway behind my house, but we had guests and I parked it on the road for the day and walked to work.

This was my car before, many of you may not like modified cars but I have alot of time and effort gone into this. I had a Mugen splitter and grille fully smoothed into my original bumper along with the plate recess smoothed in and a DC5 Integra style nose point added:

And I came home from a 14 hour long shift to find my car looking like this:

Luckly I found the woman who did it, went into the school and had a right go about the state of the parking come end of school time and they put out an appeal for witnesses. Wouldnt of been so annoyed if a note was left but I had to litterally get a witness appeal sent out before she was found.

Never did save that bumper, ended up in the scrap.

If it had been somewhere I was staying there might have been similar damage to the furniture, etc. A scrape down the side of my car from someone who couldn't judge a parking space cost me £300 to have put right.

If you want an insight into the mind of someone who annoys you when out with your car, you can always find them on Mumsnet.

Fortunally eventually yes, though I suspect if there were no witnesses she wouldnt have been so kind as to do so!

Parked up in a local shopping estate area (Beckton Triangle for those who know it). Pop in to the halfords to get some copper grease.
Come out to find some tatty looking C-Max next to my car. As i get closer I notice a large pile of Mc D's chips next to the drivers door which have very clearly come out the open drivers window. On closer inspection they're covered in ketchup and it's all over my drivers door too mad
In the C-Max is some killer whale size monstrosity stuffing her face with the latest McFat.
Being typical british I tut but it falls on deaf ears, drowned out by the grease dripping from her hair no doubt.

So (stupidly)I chuck the the half full ashtray in my car in to hers.
Which of course was followed by chocking and spluttering... good.

I've had two immaculate nearly new cars, and to be honest, I wouldn't bother again.
The first got keyed, bumped and was eventually written off by some scummy joyrider who crashed it into a tree. Unfortunately he managed to somehow walk away unscathed. To add insult to injury, the police were completely useless and charged me for recovery.confused
The second I had for 48 hrs before some drunken tts decided it would be fun to crash a shopping trolley into the drivers door at 2am. The following week a courier van drove into it and then some little st on a BMX kicked the door mirror off.

Sheds all the way for me nowfrown

I think there is something we aren't being told.

How did you know who had done it?

Why did you then, inflict more damage to another car?

Perhaps what you meant to say was that car parking spaces "SHOULD" be a standard size.

Did I say 'all'? In mine and my family's experience, those types are a considerable proportion yes but I never said all. My post was more to highlight the "I don't care2 attitude of many people, most of whom haven't had to work and pay for things.
