The ugliest 'new' car on sale today? No, it's not Korean...

Another vote for the 5 series GT. Truly gopping, and at a glance, something about the back end styling makes me think it's been involved in some sort of rear end shunt.
A shame because it's almost certainly a very decent car in other respects.
Nowhere near as bad as the X6.A shame because it's almost certainly a very decent car in other respects.

6 pages in and nothing from the Ssangyong stable?!
That's because there is nothing in their new range that is particularly ugly. Even the latest Rodius is inoffensive in a non-descript way.Monty Python said:

I think that because the Germans do not have our understated flair for designing a classy and handsome car they have to fall back on shouty and aggressive which does find favor with a lot of shouty and aggressive people who seem to make up a big percentage of the car buying population. In answer to a post further back No I have not driven a Q7 but I have owned 2 Jaguars and currently have a Range Rover Vogue so I do know a little about sumptuous cabins. I have also had experience with Audi's and have spent a decent amount of time behind the wheel of a 3.0 TDI S line Le Man, whilst it was a good car it was reasonably quiet and comfortable, it was nothing special to me. But we all have our own opinion and I'm afraid mine does not fall in line with most of the German car lovers.

I'm disagreeing with you on that one. The X6 is no looker, but I passed a 5GT today and it just looks like the motoring equivalent of a fat bloke trying to fit into a normal-sized bloke's suit.
Agreed. The X6 isn't that bad looking it's just the sheer pointlessness of it which I can't comprehend. The GT is an ungainly beast and I don't know why you'd have one over a 5 Touring.kmpowell said:
Looks like it's just me then.
I'm struggling to think of a car on sale today that's more gopping and disproportioned.
I agree.I'm struggling to think of a car on sale today that's more gopping and disproportioned.
The proportions are awful: the front overhang, the rear overhang, everything about the relationship between the rear wheel and the rear side window, the fact that it is a 4x4 yet looks like it has relatively little ground clearance. It's horrible. And when, oh when will they get rid of that stooooooopid grille? What a waste of a glorious interior...
I thought the new XC90 looked questionable but its growing on me and then on seeing the Q7 I realised that modern SUV design must be more challenging than I thought. The Mk 1 Q7 looked like an obese Panzer but at least it had coherence.
P.S. The Ssangyong Rodius is still the ugliest thing sold here in the recent past, the X6 the greatest disappointment (though my expectations of the Germans' styling depts are falling fast).
