I'd seize the opportunity and ask if they had an RS4 (auc would be just fine, a brand new one would take the piss) to keep me mobile (and smiling) for the duration of the repair. Would that be a liberty, do we think?

If you don't ask... When I had an A6 tdi I asked to borrow an RS4 because the dealer needed my car back again... He said he couldn't swing it, but how about an S4? Yes please and thanks very much.

Not that I'd do the same - I'd have been happy with a bacon sarnie and a cup of builder's tea - but it did give me a chuckle when I think of the piss take prices that main dealers charge along with their own propensity to land huge unexpected bills on people. Nice to hear about someone having as much of a brass neck as the main dealers do - Taste of their own medicine methinks. They should pay up in full, put it down to experience and make sure they specify a limit in future.

So, story is that the car was left with the dealer, and clipped by a delivery truck whilst parked on the forecourt, they're repairing the car but I thought I'd see what people think should be done on top of that to make up for it?

Not me by the way, her-

She is taking the piss. Dealer shouldn't even offered a free meal, car got repaired, free curtesy car meanwhile, what else do you need.

Personally, I would have told them to stuff the meal, I want a replacement car from your network that has not been damaged/repaired thanks. I believe she had not even driven the car yet.

So to spend 20k on an old shape A3 Convertible that's been damaged/repaired, no thanks you can find me replacement in your network.

I don't think she would know a good repair from a bad one - I do know this girl - so her A3 could be worth about a cockle in 12 months time.

She obviously got taken in with this free meal b0!!0x and rinsed it!

She drives an A3.

Dinner at a Michelin restaurant (three-course set lunch with matching wine pairing for two people and service would have only been £125) with the drinks bill of a millionaire is not appropriate.

Looks like her chavvy greed is backfiring though, as she's deleted all her social media profiles.

And was she so stupid as to leak this to the media? If it was the garage that did it, that's not on, but if she did it herself, it shows how thick she is.....
This.

Not to be all poncey about it but if she owned an R8 and that restaurant was one of her regular haunts, with that kind of expenditure being typical for her/that establishment, perhaps the bill wouldn't be so disproportionate.

As it is - as is obvious to all including Audi - she saw an opportunity to exploit their good will and just searched out somewhere she likely has never been before simply because it was expensive, and she presumed everything was on the house. She took the piss, and knew she was taking the piss. Good on Audi for only offering to pay half. She's clearly not a remotely valuable customer to them.

I personally thought it was quite funny.

I'm sure she would have known that Audi might not be happy to pay such an excessive bill. I'd also imagine she would have had to pay the bill up front first.

She's clearly tried to push her luck, but it's a big risk when it's her money at stake.

Very good points and can't say I disagree.

Free-loading chav taking advantage, most decent people would not need to be told a limit, common decency would tell you how to behave.

It's a second hand Audi. Where would you like them to find this Mythical undamaged car? Bearing in mind even brand new ones get pranged and repaired before PDI.

The woman is a stupid . If she drives a second hand A3 the Chances are she wouldn't normally spend £700 on a meal for 2. I suspect the Audi Manager was expecting her to go to her usual place - The local 2 4 1 and perhaps order a sharing platter each and a bottle of the £17 house Blossom hill. Naughty.

I would guess there are lots of old shape A3 convertibles knocking around in the dealer network undamaged. A Q7 V12 would of course be a different matter.

I do agree though, she is very silly, I would rather have negotiated a few free services or an extra years warranty.

This^

Plus, it makes you wonder if Audi really know the type of people who drive their cars. If they take liberties on the road then if you offer them a free meal...

As someone else said, they think nothing of throwing a huge unexpected (and allegedly on occasion) unwarranted bill at their customers but seem to object when it comes to them.

Yes, she did take the urine but in some ways I don't blame her. Not that i would have done it though. I'd have asked for my money back and found an alternative car.

And that's kinda the point. You'd be guessing they were undamaged. You would never know.

If it'd been damaged and repaired the week before she saw it at the dealer, she'd never have known.
If it'd been damaged and repaired by the previous keeper, she'd never have known.
If it'd been damaged and repaired before delivery, even the first keeper'd never have known.

I recently complained to a bar about the Appaling standard of their bar staff. One great one doing all rye work while the other two ignored customers and prattled around on their mobiles.

I got an email offering us lunch at the bars expense by way of an apology. I turned it down with thanks explaining that I wasn't after anything by way of compensation. I'd not suffered a loss other than walking two doors down to the next bar where I got served. I just wanted the owners to know their great bar was eing spoilt by poor staff.

If you have suffered loss then compensation can be appropriate. Not always though. An apology and a repair should usually be fine

I do agree with all that....the issue is she did know, maybe the dealer should have just got the car repaired and not said anything. I guess it's like finding out your new wife to be was passed around the local rugby team in her youthful years, it kinda puts you off smile but if you never knew.........

Person took the piss and deserves to stump up.

On the other hand Audi are rip off merchants. Told my brother a noise in his car was probably the gearbox (£6k) and his drive shaft was warped and they had to replace it before they could confirm the problem was the gear box. £470. My brother took it to an Audi specialist (not dealer) for a second opinion. Absolute bullst, the shaft was fine.

The specialist recommended a transmission firm to talk to. My brother took the car there. Turns out they're the same specialist Audi themselves would have subcontracted the car to. Total bill for the repair £1400.

Audi want to charge £6470.

So no sympathy for them here. I am not sure who I want to win this case... both are thieves.
