Speaking as someone who had to tiptoe back from Cadwell Park in the snow a few years back, following a trackday, to answer the question of 'does the car need the tech':

'Need'? No.
'Benefits from'? Definitely!

The Mustang may be 50 years old, but buyers want a car they can enjoy every day (well, at least I do) so any of these creature comforts which are pretty much standard fare in even humble shopping hatches should absolutely he included in a Sports GT (which is what the new Mustang is rather than a purebred muscle car).

Irrespective of the price, it represents a genuine alternative to us petrolheads and I for one can't wait (Deep Impact Blue with Custom Pack V8 GT on its way)

I read a review on Car website earlier. They pointed out that the annual car tax Is very steep because of the CO2. I
think that is a bigger issue than the mpg.

If you can afford the petrol and tax then a V8 Mustang is nice to have!

First year's tax is a grand and a few pounds, included in the £33,005 price since it went up £10 in April, then it's double what I usually pay at around £500.

It's small potatoes compared to what they get stung for in Europe and Ireland.

There is no discount to be had! Ford are controlling the stock so there won't be loads floating around.

We are getting ripped off here though with prices ,In the usa prices start at £16k for the V6 and there are loads of demonstrators with low miles (1,000 to 6,000) with extras for £16k ,for the brand new 2015 mustang,
same with the Subaru BRZ , 16k . There is only shipping and a bit of tax to add. Do they make the BRZ in America? why is it so cheap there? Also if that's the case a Rolls Royce or Bentley should be a lot more in the US . have a look at my link to ebay usa , prices for new mustang shape,are from $26,000 (£16,100) !!!!some are make offer and there are no offers ,so how cheap can you get one

And in the USA city centres are filled with homeless drug addicts with no access to social or health care. We pay a lot more taxes on things in the UK and that makes up a lot of the price difference - other than the obvious costs of R&D converting a car to RHD, shipping costs, admin costs, etc.

Just be pleased you don't live in Australia or worse Brazil, Russia, etc. Take a look at car prices there!!!

I'll be interested to see these at the dealership as I've always loved the looks when in the U.S.

It will be good to see a comparison with a E92 M3 V8 (my current ride) as they have identical power and similar performance. Mustang has more torque though.

For the money they look a bargain.

Having lived in the US for 8 years there's no point in moaning about getting ripped off in the UK because everything is more expensive here whether it's cars, houses, fuel, or eating in a restaurant. You can blame a lot of it on the levels of taxation - when we left Florida 5 years ago sales tax was 6% against 20% here and thats before you add shipping and import duty.

Whichever way you look at it in a direct comparison with everything else in the UK the Mustang is a bargain - new Civic Type R or a BMW 135i for £30K or a V8 Mustang for 3 grand more? Climb into any V8 and start the engine - no contest.

To those who are lucky enough to have one on order - good luck to you. Who cares what other people think - most petrolheads will salute you. As for running costs, it will drink a bit but to most Americans a "service history" consists of taking their car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change every 5000 miles. My next door neighbour had a 3 year old Ford Explorer that had 160,000 miles on it and the only time it had seen a Ford dealer was the day he collected it brand new.

If you want US prices the only answer is to move there!
