RE: BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage teaser
Wednesday 13th May 2015
Between them, BMW's recent Villa D'Este concepts have been some of its very best. As well as the pair of Hommage cars - the stunning M1 of 2008 and the 328 of 2011 - it has also chosen the Italian concours to show the fabulous Pininfarina Gran Lusso. So there's certainly good form. There was also the Zagato Z4 but nobody's perfect.
BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage teaser
'Motorsport with an elegant character' promises BMW from its latest Villa d'Este concept
For 2015 the Villa D'Este concept will be a 3.0 CSL Hommage, about as promising a concept name as you could hope for. At present there's only this image and a typically florid preview bumf but that's easily enough to be exciting by. Apparently the design 'exudes sheer dynamics', with those engorged arches serving 'as an elegant counterpoint to the distinctly sporty front and rear end'. Sounds promising, especially given the original 3.0 CSL is arguably one of BMW's most successful designs.
Furthermore, the Hommage promises to be a genuine Lightweight with plentiful carbon in the construction and a 'rigorously pared-down interior'. Only those components necessary for driving are said to feature.
The full unveil will be on May 22, where more details and pictures will be released. Given the previous concepts it seems highly unlikely the CSL Hommage will ever make it past the concept stage. That still doesn't stop us wanting it to!

Just fk off with your concept cars.
If you're not going to build it, why bother?
I don't want to be teased by an awesome looking car that will never see the light of the day. I have an imagination; I can do that for myself thanks.
Lamborghini are a very good case in point; built the Muira concept, absolutely stunning looking car, then said they're not going to put it into production because they're about looking to the future, not to the past! WHY BUILD A CONCEPT OF ONE YOUR MOST ICONIC MODELS THAT IS DECADES OLD THEN?!?!?! Tossers.

But Centurion07's comment has even more traction (sorry) today than in the past. What with social media, affordable software, co-creation projects and whatnot... the public can, and do, release their imagination -- to offer their own concepts or their own twists on a theme.
