So where is my £22.08? Why have I been refunded 7 months tax, when my car was taxed until the 1st September and I sold it on the 28th December? Clearly 8 full months remaining.
DVLA have even admitted the system has issues, even if some people on here can't see it.

I have chased for tax on 2 vehicles, 11 months on each one.

I have spoken with 2 different people in DVLA who have said they will be doing a manual action to sort out the refunds because the system has f**ked up.. my words not theirs

The new system works perfectly for people using it correctly.

As you're just quoting a random amount of money I would have no idea.

Have you tried asking the DVLA?

I contacted DVLA again today, waiting for refunds on 2 vehicles, they admitted again that the problem is the system can not cope if vehicle sold shortly after taxing, which considering everything is shared computerised information seems a rediculous excuse.
Tell me about it. Bought a new car which the dealer registered and taxed in their name on one day and sold to me the next. The new system didn't like that one bit. Anyway, after many calls to the DVLA they finally acknowledged the dealer had subsequently taxed the car in my name once they had the V5 but had done so at a post office which apparently caused issues with the system. Was still getting letters over a month after buying the car telling me to 'tax it immediately or else' so you do appear to get a warning.

I would have thought it was obvious the £22-08 referred to is the amount for the 1 months tax DVLA under refunded him by,
really not that difficult to understand is it?

Presumably this is because the refund was calculated from when the documentation reached DVLA after 1st January, hence the 1 month reduction in refund. Have you got a definitive answer yet?

Yep, last week our garage received a notice that one of our used cars was picked up by an ANPR camera, on the road whilst untaxed, we have requested photographic evidence to see if there are trade plates on the car.
Look at page 8 of this document. Clearly the SPECS camera is focusing on and enhancing the real numberplate while ignoring the trade plate.

To save starting a whole new thread on the same subject...

We received a letter today stating that the new family car (Note) was not taxed and that we would need to tax the vehicle immediately before using it again (says so in big capital bold letters!)

So, sat here with the receipt for tax which we received from the post office at time of taxing the vehicle I phoned the office....

"We are receiving hundreds of calls like this today, there is a problem with the new registered keeper logbooks and the taxing system"

After confirming all of the details were as-per the database at their end they confirmed that all the details held were correct and the vehicle was taxed. I have been told to simply ignore the letter.

Absolutely ridiculous situation - which wouldn't have even ocurred with the old 'physical' tax disc system. Bonkers.

This new system is simply not working, the only winners are the DVLA who get 2 months tax (38 million pounds a year) every time a car is sold unless the new owner wants to risk driving it home and not taxing it until the following month
