She's very superficial and will be doing no more than pottering about, but still has her own ridiculous social status to maintain.
She needs a Tiguan then. Surprisingly there seem to be all sorts of offers on them. Maybe there's a new one coming?

Don't forget I'm in Cyprus and the spec, prices and offers are very different over here.

Haven't been in either but we have quite a few Subaru XV's over here, and out of the blue a lot of Honda HRV's seem to have arrived on the streets. HRV looks just like a slightly smaller CRV. Of those listed and on looks alone I'd probably go with the HRV.
I have the new CRV in 2.4 Petrol auto guise and given the conditions on the streets of Jakarta would likely result in a Cypriot crashing all over the place it manages pretty well, the Honda would get my vote.

A 2.4 petrol engine over here would mean stupid road tax. It will be a 1.6 or less.

I have no direct experience of those options, but I'm voting for the XV based on a bunch of good experiences with other Subarus. biggrin

The XV does have a good reputation for handling rough stuff though, I'd expect it to be a lot tougher than the other choices if thats a factor. Not sure about the Renault, but the XV has 40mm more ground clearance than the Juke for kerb-hopping.

Yeti. She doesn't like the look of it and too much of a brand snob to go with it.

Mazda. Not launched yet, so can't say, but it's priced way higher than other comparable ones here.
She's a brand snob yet has Nissan and Renault on the list. Really?

Oh FFS, she doesn't like Skoda because she remembers when they were pure st. In fact today she's now said she's not sure about Renault as her Dad had one and it was crap.

Got to be an auto and the Dacias only come in manual, plus she likes her creature comforts which are missing from the Dacias.
Shame as the Stepway is a great car and what more could you want with creature comforts? Aircon, cruise control, electrics all round, satnav media system, reversing sensors mine has the lot.

A year old with 22k on the clock, mine hasn't missed a beat.

And it's all change.

Having test driven a few of them and setting my sights low, I couldn't believe just how st they are. I was feeling seasick after doing less than a mile in then Renault, which is about as solid as a blancmange.

We're onto bigger ones now with the Tiguan currently leading the way. It's put a dent in my new bike fund though

When you said brand snob I knew that would come up. I wanted my daughter to have one but she was horrified as "that's what posh women drive"!

Two final choices

Tiguan at €28150 fully loaded. New model next year but that doesn't matter over here as 20 year old cars look like new as too dry to rust. Only downsides are manual seat adjustment and a key!

Ford Kuga II. €26600 fully loaded. New model. No reversing camera and an old school handbrake.

I'm moving towards the Kuga as I'm a tight bd.

I've got a captur as my company demo(I work for Renault) it's a well specced car, nav, cruise, auto lights and wipers and lots of other bits, the boot space is good as is cabin space. The down side is the 1.5dci 90bhp engine leaves me a bit cold, it needs the 110bhp (which is now available) and my back was a bit creaky after a long journey a few weeks back.
It's a good car, I'd have a qashqai over it given the choice. The jukes small inside, small boot and begs for damage with its odd proportions.
And you win.

After pissing about looking at every crossover type car around and realising that they are all epically st on every level, we stepped up to the larger models.

Much faffing about ensued, not least as selling a car in Cyprus is a complete and utter ballache and p/ex seems to be Greek to them (ironic pun intended). Eventually Nissan came back with a very good trade in price and I've just ordered the Qashqai Tekna with glass roof for her. It's a pain waiting three months for an order over here, but that's the deal unless you take a stock and lower optioned car.

If she crashes this then her licence is going in the bin given it's got cameras everywhere, lane assist and even that daft braking system. In all honesty I can't believe the technology in a car at this price!
