Caught this yesterday, Ambulance driving at 20 mph carefully avoiding any bumps in the road, there's obviously someone in the back in a bad way.
The HGV driver should be getting a letter. The driver looks drunk
ETA: This is a new surface, yet straddling both lanes?
The road hasn't been relaid for a while, there are a number of patches, lumps and bumps on both lanes that he's trying to avoid.
Last time i saw something like this there was some poor sod in the back with some serious spinal injury, there were warnings on the news and police escorts. Shortly after this a paramedic in a 4x4 arrived to provide an escort.

So should the ambulance driver. Do they need to slow people up that much, surely there is a bit of road where they could stay in 1 lane. Braking when being overtaken too

If you re qatch the entire video you will note they are definitely trying to avoid all the bumps and undulations of the road surface. At one point you can see them avoiding a section in lh lane which is mssing patches of top layer. The driver looks drunk

Frustrating for other road users however someone on board clearly needed them to drive in that manner.

If we are talking about the vid you posted back on page 67 - the speed indication on the camera showed that you accelerated from 38mph at 11 seconds in when the silver car was seen to begin their manoeuvre up to a speed of 44mph at 15 seconds in - just before you came up behind the vehicle that had pulled out.
I wonder if you had continued at 38mph instead of accelerating, whether the vehicle that pulled out would have caused you quite so much of an issue.
Of course - we can't now verify that because the video has been mysteriously taken down.
Nothing says "confidence in my own driving" more than
Oh, I'll post it back, I was sorting out older videos and must have cropped this. It isn't a really good view apart from folk pulling out into traffic, etc, but I'm pleased it's caused discussion.I wonder if you had continued at 38mph instead of accelerating, whether the vehicle that pulled out would have caused you quite so much of an issue.

Anyway, as you correctly observed, he pulled out as I was approaching. The rest is conjecture.
I'm happy to be corrected however - post the video back up and my apparent error in judgement can be there for all to see.

Something very odd about that. You either have to think right we all need to stay behind it, unless they way me past or someones drunk driving it and get the police out.
How long did it continue?

I joined the queue behind it about half a mile before the video starts, followed it for another mile after the video stops until that section of motorway joins another. the ambulance moved across onto the other motorway (there were at least 3 near accidents as cars tried to change lanes to overtake by joining lanes travelling at 70 at 20 mph then accelerating) at that point i was able to overtake safely and noticed the paramedic 4x4 joining. The motorway they moved to would give them access to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast City or Musgrave Park (orthopaedics specialist).

Crazy. You really do have to weigh up the risk of one thing vs another. Isnt the risk of driving like that more likely to cause injuries than the person theyre carrying (if there is one)The motorway they moved to would give them access to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast City or Musgrave Park (orthopaedics specialist).
There's a reason they dont allow slow moving stuff like tractors and mopends on motorways
Meanwhile the other ambulance incident ivolving the stupid bint has made our favourite newspaper, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3177780/Sh...
along with the utter fkwittery of pixelating the main identity feature - the number plate! Dear god!

They only tend to transport like that if they really need to, lack of time, no air ambulance or no other option and rare to see it without a response or BiB car as an escort from the start of the journey.
Also, tractors and moped don't have sirens and blue fking lights do they?
A trainer we use was a response driver, he told us how he had once driver 80miles to Great Ormond with a very ill child, 2 doctors and one nurse without leaving 3rd gear going about 35 or coming to a halt. Pretty impressive drive.

Jesus Christ! That lorry could've blocked the damn road if he misjudged how steep the verge was and toppled over!
I wouldn't be bothered by the cars overtaking if they did it in a sensible place like the red pug at 1:25, use hard shoulder and maintain a decent gap between yourself and the ambulance in case they need to move back over a bit.

But P plates? Thought they were L plates?

Without being given a clear signal, in mitigation what excuse would you have for driving on the hardshoulder?

But what bothers me was the fact the lorry chose to take an extremely unnecessary risk just to get in front of the ambulance.
I don't condone what the cars did, but at least the Pug was sensible in his choice of where to pass, but would've been more sensible going on the other side and overtaking on the right when a suitable opportunity arises.
Personally, I would've had no excuse for trying to get past using the hard shoulder. But we don't know why the other drivers felt a need to get past. We can speculate.
