A mate in Texas says everyone is pretty respectable, because most of them have guns in the glovebox/on their belt.

It's only because he knows he'll only get a slapped wrist he does it.
Are you kidding? American's are a lot of thing, but respectful on the road is not one of them. Loads of honking, gesticulating, hollering out of windows it's wonderfully entertaining.
Just going off what he says.

I'd be surprised that if that chap lives another 5 years. His stressed heart must be closed to bursting.

Yet another example of something that would never have happened if a camera warrior hadn't decided to have a rant. What the hell was the upside of that ever going to be?
The upside was clear to see in the video!

Why do all cyclists feel the need to shout out the number plate when they have a camera on their head?

Another road warrior...

Fair comment actually, I needed cheering up and seeing Ranty McRant go arse over tit was definitely worth having to listen to another adenoidal bloke call out a number plate.

Again two spazmos meet and the results are inevitable.
My thoughts

1 car isn't that close. Car is closer to the offside cars than the bike and closer to them than the bike is to the ns cars.
2 cyclist gets all arsey and pursues. I wonder how carefully he is riding? Checking behind him, hand signal at the junction turning left....I doubt it, he is riding in anger and that's somewhat hypocritical.
3 as he turns left in pursuit, how close is he to that pedestrian crossing the road? Closer than the car was to him it ,looks like to me! Does he yield, sound his bell....?
4 car driver is clearly a mentalist. He will be dead in 5 years if eh doesn't calm down.
5 cyclist provokes and provokes the whole episode, which was a nothing incident. Then shows himself to be a complete chicken st by cycling off, at speed, on the fking pavement, with walled gardens and gates opening out on to it.

Both these s need a severe dressing down, imho. We should not have to share the roads and pavement with aholes like this.

To me it looks like the cyclist could have eased over into the empty parking spaces he was passing to allow the car to overtake?

The cyclist was obviously looking to create an incident and got more than he anticipated.

These helmet cams create a lot of trouble. People go looking for a reason to complain and assert their rights. Pathetic, really.

(Not to say that the motorist wasn't an absolute cretin who deserves the face plant and probably a hefty fine and at least a very uncomfortable day in court.)

I love the guy in the passenger seat, facepalming as if he's thinking 'Oh God, not again!'

This.

Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill! If that'd been me on the bike I guess I might've thought "strewth he was a bit close, what a *****" but that's as far as it would've gone. What was the point in giving chase and remonstrating with the guy in the car? He needs to get a life.

Looked to me as if the cyclist had plenty of space to his left to let the car pass safely.

The idea is to be safer by giving yourself lots of space to avoid car doors opening etc. and not letting people squeeze past unless there's enough room to overtake at a car's width.

Ironically, the practice is probably more dangerous overall because it winds people up and encourages dangerous overtakes. Bit like driving at 40mph in an NSL in the belief you're safer because you're slower. Well no, you just get irate people pulling dangerous overtakes that put you at more risk. You still have the moral high ground when you're lying in your hospital bed though.
