"Idiot in a Mercedes"

Again not me, just found on Reddit this morning.
He or she needs to be removed from the roads before real harm is done.
I know that bit of road quite well. I'm pretty sure that the right lane that the Merc is originally in, suddenly changes to a right turn which is really easy to get caught out on, so can sort of understand why he dives into the middle lane. What you don't see in the footage as it then jumps about a mile up the road, is what happens between the Merc suddenly swapping lanes and then when he starts braking and swerving.

I'd be willing to bet there was an exchange between the two drivers for the Merc to act like that. While I don't condone their behaviour, I rather think there is more to this story than meets the eye.
I also know that section of road and I know cars fly down the Morrisons only lane to beat the traffic and cut in last minute on purpose.

My sympathy lies with the camera car on this one.

Gotta be ESC, hasn't it? Hard to see how he doesn't get into a slide from over-correction otherwise. Or maybe he is one of these fabled driving gods smile

He was probably so shocked that a BMW driver indicated he presumed he was hallucinating.

apparently it was his truck, so...
Well, on the upside there is the convenience in the crash - Just lower the ramp and take it away.

It's only old tin, but a snappy old thing never the less.
Old tin with a girl on the passenger side of the car that hit the truck. Seems he was being a prat and showing off.

IIRC with my old one, there is a plug under the bonnet which when undone means you never have to turn the ESP off againsmile

The eagle eyed will have noticed that the date stamp is incorrect. My fault.

He's getting some pretty good speed out of it. Too fast for the footpath I would say. Where I live there's a guy everyone calls Crazy Pete who used to push himself along backwards in a wheelchair with one leg. Now he goes up and down on an electric scooter causing chaos. He once came head to head with a girl in a Mini and kicked her headlights out.

Ouch...saved by a truck driver
Am I the only thinking that the truck driver drove pretty badly until the moment of impact? He left the car no room at all at the transition point, did not brake when he saw it was weaving a bit, and just hung around alongside it...perfectly placed for an accident.
I agree, HGV shows a lack situational awareness and long way short of the claimed "exemplary driving".

Not exemplary, but he's definitely in the right, and has done well to bring that situation to controlled stop.

Impressive stuff from the Seat driver too.

Another example of dashcamer blaming somebody else for his own cock up.

He is approaching the junction too fast, has to swing out to avoid rear ending another truck, right onto the tail of Fiesta already braking for junction (brake lights are already on as it comes into frame).

I've watched that bit several times now and had the Focus braked at the same pace as the cars in front the driver wouldn't have ended up so close, but tbh it seems more like the usual 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Truck driver should plan lane changes better and not change into gaps too close behind vehicles in other lanes and the Focus driver, who given he looks and acts like a stereotypical angry old man driver should chill the f out and not (I'm presuming) intentionally brake test multi-ton trucks!

Though I do agree with that biggrin, he should have seen that miles off and just let him in.

Afraid not - someone needs to quote the piece from the front of the HC about avoiding a collision

He's supposed to be professional so should have seen what was happening and 'avoid'
By creeping forward he's also placed the car in his blindspot and was still half a car behind when it happened
