I watch that one about 4 times. It's a very similar situation to the lorry/car above. Unclear road markings.
The VW was I think wrong, they were not following the revised lanes but the normal ones.

The M3 last week, I was in this queue for 20 minutes, then found it was caused by the recovery of these 2 bent BMWs, so my day got better evil

Huh? Why was that good?
Not to mention the people carrier getting dragged onto a lorry. Maybe not important enough to mention?

Non-event clip, that one.
The people carrier wasn't damaged at the front, both BMWs were. Think about that ...

Lane change
It was the VW that was wrong but since st like that always happens with those dumb studded lanes the cam car should have seen it coming.

What's with all this brake testing Bullsheet? Every one of those should have been reported and charged with Dangerous Driving.

And if Ridgeline Fascias had cut me up I would have made it my duty to subscribe their email address to porn site, get every PPI callback company in the UK to call them and make 10 fake quotations a day.

It always amazes me the speed people get on the horn. Either they have jet pilot reactions or they see the trouble coming and rather than avoiding it by slowing a bit or manovering they hover their hand over the horn.

I always think that when I see these videos, normally by the time I remember where the horn is the event is well and truly over.

I remember the ex telling me a story about her gran having a crash, the ex's dad was asking what happened.
Dad: What happened?
Gran: This idiot pulled out in front of me!
Dad: Were you going fast? You hit him pretty hard.
Gran: No I tooted the horn at him.
Dad: Yeah but from what others are saying you could have stopped in time?
Gran: But I tooted the horn, I can't brake at the same time!

She was persuaded to stop driving soon after that.

Ouch...saved by a truck driver
Am I the only thinking that the truck driver drove pretty badly until the moment of impact? He left the car no room at all at the transition point, did not brake when he saw it was weaving a bit, and just hung around alongside it...perfectly placed for an accident.
I agree, HGV shows a lack situational awareness and long way short of the claimed "exemplary driving".
Utter bks from people with little or no idea what theyre talking about. Have you ever even sat in an HGV cab?

Question? When will all the idiots on here stop arguin and start simply posting videos?

I know this is PH and we LOVE a good argument where one person claims the sky is blue and another vociferously argues that the sky is in fact Blue but come one it gets seriously boring when on a video thread.

Two voices, male and female in the car, judging the the expletives of surprise the driver was in a world of their own.

Also WTF is going on at 3:59, is that a central bollard snagged on the car being chased?

4:55 looks like a deliberate attempt to crash for cash.

since when did it become acceptable for CarA to cut up/change lane/force into CarB's safety space in front of their car and then for CarA to get all upset about being tailgated so they brake test CarB?

Utter fkwittery, the situation totally caused by CarA. I've seen it in so many of these videos now.

The VW failed to follow the yellow studs denoting the temporary lane changes bringing the hard shoulder into use.

Why anyone would be alongside another vehicle at these locations is beyond me. The possibility of vehicles continuing within the original lane markings is very high. The other video with a careless lorry driver ramming a car doing the same trick as the VW is a case in point. That car driver had demonstrated his uncertainty by wandering. Sufficient warning of impending doom, I would have thought!

Not necessarily wink
You might think it's merge in turn the way they're driving right up to the cones but have a look at the temporary catseye markings

Isn't the VW supposed to move over? It's followed the normal lane markings, as at least 2 posters here would have done.
I said in a previous video, if I was dictator in charge of that layout and that's how they were using it I'd be out there with fresh paint, pogo sticks & cones until everyone was doing it right smash

If the camcar was a truck and side swiped the back of the VW whose fault would it be?
Road layout, person in front, person behind? Who's in best position to avoid?

Agreed that the road markings are awful, but I will never understand hanging out in another car's 'blind spot'. Get past or drop back!

On the M3/m25/m4 today, at some areas they are laying temporary WHITE tape and reflectors.....maybe some one has noticed that in some conditions, how they normally do it is lacking.(for the "un-attentive" smile that is)

Don't fancy a M'Bike in the wet on that type of tape either...
