The "Sh*t Driving Caught On Dashcam" Thread
Discussion
I'm not taking sides however I have to ask, was the cyclist 'taking advantage' of the narrow width of his bike to make progress through nearly stationary traffic? I think some bikers refer to it as whitelining. If the traffic was stationary I can understand why he would feel he was in the right to do so however if the traffic was moving, even slowly then surely he should have kept position until it stopped again.
Scientific proof; staring at blind spots makes them shrink

It was the verbal description just above, not that it really matters . If a car driver tried to force his way through the traffic along the white lane dividing line then he would be rightly prosecute-able (S) Bikes and cycles do it all the time and when it goes wrong blame the other driver. How many of the bike and cycle couriers in London or any big city follow the Highway Code...? Rebuilda said:

Whats the point in squeezing through a gap if youre going to get overtaken just up the road?

If a car driver cuts up another car driver, WW3 will soon ensure. Same if a motorists cuts up a cyclist and the cyclist has a hat cam, It's a strange world.
As a motorist for over 50 years and a keen cyclist for about 20 years I must have been fortunate not to have been involved in any sort of road rage. I just hope it continues

Interestingly enough if a cyclist (God forbid) cuts up another cyclist, no big deal. As far as I know.

Road markings aren't the best, check the markings at 12 sec vs faded markings at 16sec.
I've seen this happen while I've been in lane 1 with cars in front of me, but to me the golf should have been in my lane going onto the roundabout if he was wanting to go straight on, but reviewing this the markings at 12s don't back this up, it certainly doesn't look like he was in the correct lane for going where he went, what do other people think? In future I think I'll stick to the left hand lane rather than making progress on lorries.

A bit off-topic but not worth creating a new thread for really and I suppose it's relevant to the conversation of cyclist visibility... Also: my thread so nurr.
Some pics of the full set, sorry for hugeness:
I like the laser thing because....well...frickin' lasers. Also because anything that makes me more visibile is good. I'm not sure how visible the lasers actually are from behind, I'd need to get someone else to ride it. I'd suspect that under street lights they're probably almost invisible but on a dark road they might show up. I really have two lights to ensure that if a battery goes I at least have something showing.
For the sake of a few quid it's well worth it.
Yes, all very nice - but it'll make no difference. In fact, the only difference it'll make is to your mind, making you think you will be seen. So actually putting you in slightly more danger with your new perceived sense of protection from people who look but don't see. Some pics of the full set, sorry for hugeness:

As a biker of many many years I've ridden with HID lights, normal lights, hi-viz vests and even a yellow helmet for a while. Yet, people still pull out on you. The only thing that sort of works are ASBO approved straight through exhaust cans.
At the end of the day - don't think those lights will help you in any way - you've got to keep looking out for the unexpected.

Yes, stick to the left if taking the 2nd exit. I nearly got wiped out on that roundabout trying to go ahead in the left lane. I use the right one now!Road markings aren't the best, check the markings at 12 sec vs faded markings at 16sec.

He was in a lane marked left and straight ahead, he passed the left turn then passed the straight on. Road markings aren't the best, check the markings at 12 sec vs faded markings at 16sec.

Though those arrows aren't very clear as all three show a straight ahead arrow, and the slip to the left could make you think the left turn on the roundabout is redundant.
There are similar issues on some of the other approaches to that roundabout.

I'm just looking at the road markings from what I can see in that video, but don't the road markings (just before the roundabout) show to only use left lane for turning left, and use all 3 lanes to go ahead.Road markings aren't the best, check the markings at 12 sec vs faded markings at 16sec.

I.E. golf was in a fine lane to go ahead, but you were in the wrong lane (a go ahead only lane) and should have been in left lane to turn left?
