Anyhow, this is an American clip but it's an interesting insight into how daft people can be about responsiblity.

Did anyone else do anything but laugh when she said thathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlvV5-99M-Q
Er....not that I was, but if you managed to take enough notice of my exact speed to be able to judge I was over the posted limit, WHY THE JUDDERING fk DID YOU JUST PULL OUT ANYWAY?!?!?
I think the complete lack of personal responsibility exhibited by a lot of drivers today is what causes the vast majority of roadrage. A simple acknowledgement/apology via a quick wave or something would go a long way to stopping a lot of incidents.
I can put up with people's mistakes, but when they beep & swear at you like somehow it's YOUR fault, then not so much.

Looks like the camper van swerved to avoid the Zafira who moved into lane two to avoid the slowing cars in lane 3. Not defending the move mind.
Camper van driver controlled that quite well.....how many just roll them when swerving to avoid like that.None was paying attention to the line of brake lights that had been on for some time before the incident occurred though!

I had this this morning; entering a roundabout a guy in a 4x4 pulled out in front of me causing me to have to brake and avoid him. I gave the universal 'upturned-palm-what-do-you-think-you're-doing' signal (nothing aggressive, didn't hit the horn or anything) only to hear him scream, "FCK YOU, YOU FAT CNT!" through his open window.I can put up with people's mistakes, but when they beep & swear at you like somehow it's YOUR fault, then not so much.
Interesting; clearly his powers of observation are sufficient to identify that I am indeed a fat cnt yet not good enough to spot my entire fking car when it's my right of way.
A simple hand-up as an apology from him was a) what I was looking for and b) would've calmed the situation. I'd be very interested to see how brave people like that are once they no longer have a metal cocoon around them. One day they'll anger the wrong person and end up getting smeared across the road by a psychopath.

+1000. Couldn't agree more. I used to be quite trigger happy on the horn at other drivers' errors when I was younger but it's actually very rare I use it now. I did get rather vexed a few weeks ago at being undertaken whilst turning right at a roundabout with clearly marked lanes which caused me to do some slick manoeuvres to avoid hitting them. I sounded the horn and was met with much gesticulation, middle finger out of window, brake testing etc. Sadlyfor them I had the last laugh as they were too busy glaring in the rear view mirror mouthing obscenities at me that they failed to notice the kerb on the exit of the roundabout and slammed into it at about 30mph which (hopefully) resulted in some damage.I can put up with people's mistakes, but when they beep & swear at you like somehow it's YOUR fault, then not so much.

The M3 last week, I was in this queue for 20 minutes, then found it was caused by the recovery of these 2 bent BMWs, so my day got better

Why would bent cars be a good thing? What a prattish thing to say. That clip was a total waste of time and now I'm wasting even more time telling you that which you already knew.https://youtu.be/h4nHAeBy_L8

ok, ok, sorry and all that, sorry that you didn't like my poor tongue-in-cheek humour, and yes I posted this clip in the wrong place, should have been in the crash-pics thread.but
There's a much better clip coming up in a few minutes .... Audi this time...
Stupid Audi driver KR54EZH overtakes (on the left) by breaking the 30 limit, then stops after the green lights (attempted insurance scam crash-for cash?) then drives on through the next red light.
https://youtu.be/_XmixFwUsAg
ok a white can goes through as well, but I didn't get his number.

Yep the camper van did pretty well even if the crockery didnt
The HGV driver has to have a thumbs up too
The idiot was the lane3 Zafira and to some extent those in front for not reading the road ahead.
What about the MLM camper for not moving over once over taking the HGV. st driving all round really, all should have been on the brakes as soon as all the brake lights appeared. The HGV driver has to have a thumbs up too

Like cyclists, thousands of us car drivers are now running cameras for our safety. Never again will you dare to cycle badly around car drivers, not knowing whether your bad road behaviour is being filmed or not. Many cyclists have been prosecuted.Ok, so the riposte above is tongue-in-cheek. Also a camera isn't for your 'safety', it simply shows what happened after an event. The problem with so many 'camera warriors' is they're more concerned with being 'right' they don't think about whether they're 'safe'. Many cyclists also seem particularly keen to pick fights with motorists out of anger and/or an adrenaline rush (in fact, I've seen you do this in your videos).
Furthermore, the number of numpty cyclists I've caught on camera exceeds the number of numpty car drivers. There are terrible examples of both on the road. As a cyclist, YOUR bad behaviour is being filmed on MY camera too so think about that when you're jumping red lights, passing vehicles on the left and putting yourself in danger.
Between 2011 and 2013, the Met alone stopped and issued notices to over 27,500 cyclists for offences including contravening traffic signals, contravening constables on traffic duty and directions given by them, contravening traffic signs, non-conformity of lighting during hours of darkness, riding where prohibited and cycling on footways.
Also remember that most car drivers are also cyclists and vice-versa, so the problem isn't 'us and them' it's 'us and us'.

The car should have chosen a better time but the truck driver should have seen the car trying to overtake and slowed up to allow the overtake to safely complete.
Was he checking his mirrors at all?

Whilst I get annoyed at people lane hogging, I don't see that the Golf driver was really achieving anything by moving to the inside lane to pass on these occasions. The first time you can see traffic is coming up behind a coach overtaking an HGV, the second time he gets caught up in traffic joining the motorway other people are staying out to give room for.

At 2 minutes he turns right without checking for pedestrians, and probably not for cyclists either.

He definitely accelerates at the guy pulling onto the roundabout here

The first video with the welsh kid is truly scary, and to me underlines why its *not* a good idea to get peoples backs up and attempt to police the roads.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEmANHl9k7Y

That 'old guy' very calmly, without raising his voice, changing pitch or even breaking a sweat tells him he will hurt him bad - theyre the people you need to be very careful of. Joe Q public can say the same thing but will be sweating and shaking, and their voice goes....
He just tells you.
You need to be careful who you mess with. Not all hardmen are 6 foot roid heads with tribal tattoos... just sayin'....

Theres a common theme running through these which Ive highlighted on previous pages. Its this failure in duty to avoid.
You may have right of way, and you may like to have it written on your tombstone in confirmation, but if someone else makes a mistake you also have a duty to try to avoid. It's common sense and should be automatic.
This'll continue as long as we keep trying to attribute fault rather who made a mistake. What contributed to these collisions? It takes two to tango.

Seriously? I can't say I would have been scared of that fairly frail middle class old man with pathetic hard man talk. That 'old guy' very calmly, without raising his voice, changing pitch or even breaking a sweat tells him he will hurt him bad - theyre the people you need to be very careful of. That said, not really appropriate behaviour from the future leader of the Labour Party.

What did the truck driver do?
You cannot possibly lay an ounce of blame on the wagon driver. There was a huge gap between him and the one in front. And if you look, even I spotted the car coming towards them, so why in gods name should the wagon driver check his mirrors just in case f*ckwit wants to die early ? He probably also saw car coming, and couldn't imagine how a person with just one head could be so monumentally stupid to try and overtake.....and yet you believe he is partially to blame. You my good man, are as deluded as the Audi driver was.

Accepted the car driver may not have chosen the best place but there are a couple of things about the truck in the videoDid he speed up while being overtaken, did he slow down to let it pass?
HC168 said:
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

If I were a truck driver I would take the fact that cars between me and the truck in front of them overtaking that truck as a pretty good sign that maybe somebody will try & overtake me, but then I check my mirrors constantly and so never get caught out by what's occurring behind me.anonymous said:

50 mph speed limit - hence, I would assume, his suggestion that the other truck better get his foot down as many still stick to 40 mph. This would also explain his speed increase from 40 to 50ish mph as thy leave what appears to be a 40 zone and enter a national speed limit.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
