And me paperbag

I think a lot of non-bikers don't appreciate you can't just change direction like you can in a car by just yanking the wheel and hoping for the best.

That's pretty much exactly how I'd have tried to save that - a little inside bar pressure and move my weight over.

I liked his instant reaction. Get up and blame the white van driver.

He was following the van way too closely. I never understand why bikes do this, since they have the ability to squirt past almost any four-wheeled traffic so much faster than other road users. I'm no riding god but it was unnerving watching him that close.

A quick search shows this has been shown on the "Best Youtube Bike Clips" thread but not here. I've watched it many times putting myself in the biker's position and wondering if I'd have done anything different. Try not to skip to the accident itself - a little run-up is necessary to get the feel of how he was riding:

Looked like more a hands up, apologetic and check he's okay reaction rather than one of blame

All the way through I was thinking that either it's a single lane/one way road or the biker is making a lot of assumptions that the road around the corner is going to be clear. Shame really as his speed seemed pretty sensible, he just was using all the road width.

So not the bikers for being too close and going up the left hand side of the slowing and indicating car......

Sorry but 100% inexperienced bikers fault.

Definitely the bike instructor's fault, he was probably too focussed on catching up with his trainees, and thought he could take a chance getting past a slow car.

All I would say is as the car was going to turn into that car park, he should have not approached it from what looks like the outside lane of the roundabout. The biker obviously didn't appreciate the car was actually going to turn, don't think the car driver checked his mirror, so maybe 95% blame, car driver not squeaky clean. Anyway......

Yes, he's a all of those things, but unfortunately I'm not really surprised. It seems the default position in the UK at present is to behave like a rude, selfish, arrogant cock and fk everybody else. frown

The car was indicating, they had not cancelled that and were slowing/positioned to take the exit...the Biker made the wrong decision.~

Exits like that just after the RA are always a risk

I thought he was a driving God, at least he seems to think he is, he has a good grasp of the English language, but everything you said is absolutely correct. A total tanker. biggrin

Even if the car driver did check their mirror - i'd say the position of the bike would have put it in the car's blind spot anyway.

Also - even if the car driver wasn't turning as the bike seemed to assume - the bike should not have tried to overtake on the left anyway. HC rule 163 applies to bikes as well as cars.

Clip @ 2:10, I know that junction well. Horrible one to exit from as you cannot see traffic approaching from the right (where the cam car is) without sticking your nose out way over the line. Cam car is clearly speeding, it's a 50 before the 30, and was clearly doing way more than 30 as it approached the junction.

Has a real issue with cars going through on amber. I don't think any of the clips at traffic lights actually jumped the red. Obviously he has never made the slightest error in his life, has never been in the wrong lane and had to speed up to cut in or anything like that.

Feel sorry for the wife, I'd say listening to his aggression has probably rubbed of on her and she drives the same now.

Also would be surprised if his aggression is restricted to just when he drives. Probably an asshole to be around
