Very bizarre moment yesterday morning.

Got abit lost heading out and found myself down some country road. Some nut job tried to chase me down the road and decided to throw stones at the car.

I real WTF moment indeed. Checked my speed, was only doing 20 mph so god knows what that was all about.

He was a cyclist so perhaps that says it all? hehe

Strange one earlier today. My dad is following a Chrysler Voyager shed which suddenly slams the breaks on causing my dad to emergency stop to not hit him. Absolutely nothing in the road, no reason to stop whatsoever. My dad ended up maybe 2 cars lengths back from the stopped car when suddenly the reverse lights come on and the idiot floors it right into my dads stationary car.

Luckily he had a dashcam and was fully expecting some scrote to come out claiming my dad went into the back of him and that he had whiplash etc. However it turns out it was some oblivious old grandad who had just missed his turn and didn't think to look behind him on a main road before he floors it in reverse.

Chryslers bumper absolutely destroyed and just a scratch on my dads Toyota so he didn't pursue it further because the guy seemed genuine enough.

Truck trying to run down a cyclist this morning. As they went past the cyclist shouted 'F Off' to the truck driver, he looked petrified! (You can hear him through the sunroof if you listen carefully!)

Was literally inches from him, driver of truck looking down at cyclist grinning. YJ57CMU you tt.

That's not deliberate, no way. As an artic driver myself I can safely say that he wouldn't even have been able to see the cyclist where he was. The FH cab driving position is very high up and they have a lot of f/n/s blind spots.

FRO 'not deliberate'.

So the cyclist just materialised in front of the truck and the driver had no opportunity to see them?

Again, FRO.

How about the scenario where the driver caught up with the cyclist and tried to force their way past?

What an idiot, there is no way he should be putting a truck so close to a cyclist, I froze the frame to work out the distance but it was literally too close to tell.

I hope that video finds it way to his employers.

Umm no, because I happen to be local to the area where it happened (Canal Rd in Bradford) and there is ample room to pass by straddling the chevrons and it's plenty wide enough back towards Shipley to get past even with queueing traffic in the other direction. There's no way the driver was that mental to drive within inches of a cyclist like that whilst knowing he was there and as already pointed out, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the cyclist would be completely invisible from his driving position. The truck does have a front mirror but in my experience they're usually poorly adjusted, covered in muck and very rarely used anyway, especially when on the move.

At 0:04 in the video he was touching the rear tyre of the bike with his bumper whilst doing what, 20mph or so? You seriously think someone would do that knowing that the moment they get knocked off balance you've killed them under your wheels? Sorry no. You might think that's normal but natural human instinct would automatically shy away from doing it regardless of how much you might want to do it. I stand by the trucker not seeing him there.

I can promise you that it's much more scary being alongside them when that happens! The noise alone evacuates your bowels before you have a chance to realise what's happening.
I've been queuing to get onto a slip road (M40 to M25) and this happened right along side of us. The driver, miraculously held it and made it past the junction and onto the hard shoulder. Safe to say I think everyone in that queue would have been pretty shaken. Credit to the lorry driver as well, could have been very nasty.

My first thought too, but why is the truck only travelling at bike speed rather than the 40 limit?
Maybe he thinks he's already past the bike. Who knows. Only the driver can say what he thought was going on.

Hi Skip_1

Is there any chance you could post up the footage before and after this incident ?

It's rare we see road obstacles that aren't on Google earth.

Even better if you can open a new thread to save spamming this one up.

No pressure on you to do anything I ask. Just thought it would be interesting to see people's perceptions of the situation rather than the f'kg hgv/cyclist etc.

It would good to see if there is traffic queuing for the skoda garage.

The cyclist would have been visible prior to that point, unless he was transported onto the road from the USS Enterprise.

Maybe he came off the pavement, or passed the truck on it's inside when they were further back towards the caravan and garden centres?
Who knows?

Will do once home, you can't see much but would see sight lines as I move off.

You can't see in video but truck driver was looking towards cyclist and grinning.

I completely agree, that's incredibly dangerous driving from the lorry driver with a vulnerable road user. I'd have been up the kerb and onto the pavement with a lorry driving that close to me!
