This combination always seemed to get pretty positive comments..

Why not go for OZ Superturismo wheels instead then? Similar look, and an OEM/motorsport link.
Liked the look of them TBH, as they were split rims made for Jaguar by BBS - that, and at £700 with good rubber and the adapters, they were also a bit of a bargain.

The weirdest combo I've seen is a VW (surprise, surprise hehe) Bora with 5-spoke Mondial alloys from a Land Rover Discovery II. Predictably, they look terrible and I have no idea how they'd fit as the bolt holes are huge compared with the VW ones.

Actually, going on Google has revealed that it is in fact quite common to fit Land Rover wheels to VWs. confused

My 9-3 and previous Vectra were / are on Alfa wheels, but with the correct centres.

I think some of these look good, just not very keen on broken suspension! I'd rather drive a car than just be seen in it!

Hells bells. That somehow manages to look even worse than the fiesta with pink wheels a few posts up.

I regularly see a Golf V with those wheels on, and I couldn't work out what they were from!

Can't find a photo on Google but there's a Silver EP3 that has or had Land Rover Freelander wheels on it.

Awful.

Maybach rims anyone?

I actually like the X5 wheels on a MK4 Golf

Wouldn't mind some on my E91 but don't have spare money for that stuff these days

There's a VW in the car park at work with rolled arches and Porsche alloys fitted. Can't say I feel strongly about it at all. In fact until I saw this thread i hadn't given it a second thought.

I put some old Lorinser D93's on my Passat a few years back for no other reason than they were collecting dust in the barn.
With 10mm spacers, I thought they looked OK...

Yeah OK, not OE as such, but some Lorinser Mercs did get these from new.

I think that most of these wheel swaps look worse than the original but your Passat looks very good; the exception that proves the rule?

A guy at my old work used to have a blue 3-door Mk5 GTI on Porsche twists. It wasn't stupidly low, the wheels weren't a stupid colour, and their design is similar enough to the standard 5-spoke GTI wheels that they looked pretty subtle. I like them, anyway.

In fact, aside from colour almost exactly like this:

Yep. There is an E38 728i near where I work. Matte black roller paint job, X5 wheels, tinted windows. A sad fate for what was once a lovely executive car.

My old mk4 on 19 x 8.5 Porsche 997 Turbo wheels (two sets of fronts.. Rear ride height is also up in the air due to being on a steep hill with handbrake on!)

Range Rover Sport HSE 19 x 9s:

The Porsche's I bought because I loved the design on them, and still do. The range rovers I bought second hand for £150 as the chap was changing his wheels - custom hub centric adapters used to fit them with mm perfect calculated thicknesses for the offsets to be bang on and jobs a good 'un.

not to the typical PH'ers cup of tea as generally they don't like anything modified on here at all, and some people instantly frown upon others doing what they want to their car.

...as mentioned though its extremely common place in the Volkswagen/Audi world . smile

That's a rarity on this thread in that it actually looks good, better in my eyes than most that come with the car, most of which look misplaced themselves.
