Interestingly, a trip to the BMW website only gives you white and black as free.

Even the other dull colours are £650.

its the Germans.

Why would your wife want some random old blokes on the Internet to choose her car colour? I'd suggest she gets the one she prefers!

I had the same problem, didnt want to pay an extra £500 for a different colour, or £1000+ for non standard,

considered getting a standard and having it wrapped.

went for black and get it washed twice a week with the money saved,

Silver is only acceptable on an Audi. All other marques are just trying to be an Audi if they're grey or sparkling grey or sterling grey (which is brown)

Floret Silver is actually really nice

They've introduced Sepang Blue into the Black Edition Plus range now, as a standard colour.

This is a few cars we have lined up outside our tempory showroom at work, but different

I would get it in black, should look smart and doesn't make too many unnecessary statements about the driver. A white Audi is pretty much the car equivalent of a fake tan. The coloured cars look pretty odd, not sure it suits the brand at all. But that's just me.

How many different models are there in that photo? It looks like all have the same front end on them except the blue TT. Do they actually all share the same headlights etc?

Oddly when I was in Germany recently you see them in all sorts of normal proper colours, so this obsession with various shades of misery must be a British thing.

It may be due to the amount of road rage and aggression we have here. Not standing out is a key consideration for many when buying a new car, especially an expensive one.

Five or six years ago, I was in the rather large Merc dealer that I used to use when having to deal with getting my Mum’s MB serviced/fixed etc and behind the reception desk was a huge Dulux style colour samples wall with all these rainbow colours of paint and interior swatches...all neatly set out.
I actually in all seriousness, asked the staff why they bothered having that on the wall....as it seemed to be largely redundant from a customer or staff point of view.

They were confused by this question, and then got rather annoyed when I pointed out that ALL the dozen or so cars in the showroom were a shade of silver/grey or were black, all had black interiors, and every car of the 30-40 outside in the used lot BAR ONE was either white, black or a shade of grey/silver and ALL had black interiors.
