Nothing makes you think Sport like a transit van, with stripes and aircon.

I think the confusion here is that people read 'sport' and think 'motorsport', and that the car must then be quick.

Lawn bowls is a sport.

My first car was a MK2 Fiat Punto Active Sport. It had 60 BHP and would only do 100 down a hill with the wind behind it.

It was basically a Punto Active with the Seats and steering wheel from the 1.2 Sporting, which also probably could feature in this thread.

Does anyone know if these actually came with a net and an umpire?

The irony being it probably ended up with an owner who fitted neon lights and a massive sound system wink

Oh yeah baby...

"...the R-Sport was based on the DLS trim level featuring sporting additions such as self-adhesive 'R-Sport' decals and rev counter..."

Still, a rev counter in an early 80's hatch was pretty rock and roll.

Apparently for some reason you don't get a spare wheel because it's the "Sport"

I've said this before, but people referring to their car as a "sport" really irritates me. "I drive a BMW sport" No, that's a 318d with a bodykit.

I don't refer to my car as a "BMW SE".

Ah, but is it named after Roland Garros the pioneer aviator and First Word War flying ace - and a very speedy fellow - or Roland Garros the stadium named after Roland Garros the very speedy aviator?
