I would like to get a slightly softer ride.

Is this legal/acceptable or a bad idea?

Thanks

If I've got my numbers right your speedo will under read by about 3% but no reason not to do it.

I'd have my doubts about it improving your ride quality by much. Have you tried running a psi or two lower than recommended?

Assuming 205/50 is the OE specification, you will have to notify your insurance company.

It's unlikely there will be clearance issues but also worth double checking that too.

Isn't it 10%?

Thanks!

I didn't think about the speedo under reading. If it will do so by 10% it's probably not a good idea for me. I could just imagine myself forgetting the under read

What car is it ?

You might be able to fit 15" wheels and taller tyres onto it.

Not keen on changing the wheels really.

205/50/16 is not exactly a low profile tyre. I imagine you'd get better results finding yourself tyres of the correct size with a softer sidewall.

Ride on an s70 with 16" wheels should be pretty good. What's the issue? Is it just generally too firm or are you finding it deals badly with potholes etc?

You might want to look at the suspension side rather than the tyres, but do check the load rating of your current tyres as if someone has fitted very high load rated tyres the sidewalls will be way too stiff.

I had Gaz Gold suspension fitted a few years ago. It seemed a really good idea at the time and it does handle quite nicely just it's very firm.

The can be set to a softer setting but it just gets really bouncy which is even worse than being too hard.

Yeah, probably not a good idea. I think I will try some Rainsport 3 tyres in the correct size. I've heard they have quite soft sidewalls.

Ah.... Yeah, tyres are not really your problem IMO. They may help a little bit but not much.
