Saw a very unassuming Dark Blue unmarked 330d (F30) pull someone over in Southampton last week, was very surprised when the blue lights came on (I was probably about 50m behind it).
That actually jogged my memory, I saw a storm grey F30 unmarked saloon pulling someone a few months ago in soton town.white_goodman said:
Not Sting and co. but HM's Police force. I'm planning a small bank robbery in the next few weeks and was just wondering what I need to be able to outrun (I must point out here that I'm just joking before I get arrested).
I remember a time when if you could outrun a big Ford/Vauxhall/Rover or possibly a Range Rover you were laughing. Police endorsement was usually a good indication of reliability and durability though.
If you go into your regional forum there is likely to be an "unmarked bib" thread where all the answers will be. We have one for W Yorks and I know Lancs has one running too.I remember a time when if you could outrun a big Ford/Vauxhall/Rover or possibly a Range Rover you were laughing. Queensland had a fleet of HSVs (nice plates) that they used for Highway Patrol work
NSW have a tuned HSV GTS that they use as a show car - close to 670 bhp
I reckon there's a sense of irony going on with those QLD plates...NSW have a tuned HSV GTS that they use as a show car - close to 670 bhp
Anyway, I can vouch for the HSV GTS in NSW - not the tuned one, but the unmarked, bright orange GTS that pulled up alongside me a few weeks ago. For those unfamiliar, that means a supercharged 6.2 V8 with 430kW/575bhp and 0-100kh in 4.2 sec. Interestingly according to the HSV website, bright orange is no longer available, so it might be a little less undercover now. That's not to say NSWPF doesn't have a few in other colours too.
As Jader wrote, many are semi-marked meaning you can't see from the front that its a police car, side on and from the rear all the signwriting is there.
Most of the trafpol in Bedfordshire drive marked or unmarked Insignia's-the interesting bit is they look fairly standard, but have VXR running gear underneath! (Also previously applied to the Vectra's they used). I've seen a few unmarked BMW 3/5 Series too and the odd unmarked Octavia VRS.
The panda cars are usually Astra's.
Comes with the county containing the town home to Vauxhall HQ (and until fairly recently, the factory producing the above) I guess.

my god, that brings back memories. My dads friend was a traffic cop here in south wales (based in Trecynon, Aberdare)..he'd take me over to the police station where their 850 T5 was every so often to play around with the blue lights and sirens outside lol. used to love it!
we now have new 3 and 5 series saloons and wagons, and the occasional X5. panda cars are focus's which seem to get the ragging of their sorry little lives
That was the Trecynon car. I was based there for 12 months.we now have new 3 and 5 series saloons and wagons, and the occasional X5. panda cars are focus's which seem to get the ragging of their sorry little lives

wow haha, small world! i was referring to Tony Webb who I assume you worked with. If memory serves me right he then moved into the HGV weighing side of things, and had a traffic liveried Disco for a while.

Tony lived in Trecynon station when I worked there. I later did training for the driver CPC with him after I retired. Those pics are certainly a blast from the past!
